Lower Suspension Fulcrum

Hello

I am trying to dismantle the lower fulcrum on my BT7. As referred to page L3 of the BMC manual, I am tring to remove the Front Screw Bush (# 35) and am wondering if I need to remove the Bush Cotter (# 24) before removing the bush, or just loosen it in order to remove the bush. Can someone let me know as the manual is a bit vague (it says just to remove the nut which implies leaving the Cotter in place...)?

Thanks

Myles

I think if I read you correctly . You must remove the upper wishbone bolt no splitpin , then you remove the split pin from the fulcrum bolt and then remove the Nut. should come apart then. However,No Guarantee here.--Keoke- :frown:

The cotter pins have to come out. The bushes have a groove in them on the cotters wedge into so the bushes can't unscrew and ruin your day. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to drive or torque them out and they may have to be replaced. Moss shows them for $3.95 ea.

You do have to loosten the cotter pin nuts but you can't remove the cotters until the treaded bush is removed - they have a half moon cut into them that matche the groove in the bush (if you look closely at the drawing you can see these arched cutouts on the pins). Loosten the nuts 2-3 turns and tap the pin upwards until it's loose in the wishbone, as you remove the threaded bush keep wiggling the cotter pin to make sure it's clearing the bush on it's way out. Then after the bush is off you can remove the cottters by sliding them down & out (you don't need to remove the nuts).

Thanks for the advice - bushes are now out and cotter pins removed. The cotter pins were removed after the bushes came out.

Thanks
