Glue for Vinyl on Dash/Glove Box Door

Starting to do some interior work on my 56 TR3. First off is the vinyl on the glove box door, next will be the vinyl on the dash. Any specific recommendations concerning brands/types of glue. I was going to use brush-on contact cement that I have "in stock", but wonder if there is something that might work better or be more appropriate for the job. Cheers, Mike

mgedit, use the contact glue used on counter tops. Follow instructions and have lots of pencils laying in place to ease things down. Roll with a rolling pen out of the kitchen. Don't have any globs, make it as smooth as possible.

Mike -

I've had great results with 3M spray adhesive. "Hi-Strength 90". Easy to use. Spray each part; wait a minute or so; press together. Good stuff.

I agree with Mickey,
I have used the 3M 90 with great results. Check my dash on the link below.

I have the same question because I need to re-glue the edges of my dash vinyl. I was reading that you need to use a high temperature rated glue for the dash. Does the 3M spray glue have a high temperature rating. I also read that DAP Landau Top & Trim adhesive contact cement is the best but I can only find it in five gallon cans. I also found this spray adhesive but I don't know if it is any good.........https://www.yourautotrim.com/perhittrimad.html

Thanks for the input guys. I've seen reference to the DAP product, but I think it is only available in large qualities. 3M product seems to be the other that is most often mentioned and should be easy to find. Cheers, Mike

Others may differ but I did not glue the vinyl on the front of the door, just the backside tuck.

You'll want to trim the overlaps on the back to create minimum thickness back there.

If your dash ever gets hotter than 180* you've got bigger problems than the glue releasing.

Said this before and I 'll say it again. I use Spray 90 all the time and it is not permanent
