Fuel Gauge Sender

Pop quiz. I'm ready to put my fuel tank back on. For the fuel gauge sender should the rubber gasket go between the tank and the sender, or the sender and the lock ring?

The rubber ring goes between the tank and the sender. The locking ring gets metal-to-metal contact with the sender.

Thanks for the info. I put it together and bolted it to the car. Also mounted the new aftermarket fuel pump and new rubber gas line. How many people put a filter between the tank and the pump? I've got a clear glass filter at the carbs, but with a new tank wondering if a double filter setup is overkill?

Just my opinion but the one filter should be fine... except I'd say: loose that glass filter and replace it with a metal in-line like Purolator (F21124 in my case). Those glass thingies are pretty-shiny but a good way to immolate your LBC.

Well... I have two filters. I have the pretty glass one between the tank and pump (sadly... no one can see it under the car). Those have pretty coarse openings, they stop bolders, not dust. I use them because my tanks are lined and I had to remove the original LBC filter screen from inside the tanks during the lining process. I use the coarse glass filters just to protect the pump. I have a disposable translucent plastic filter just before the carbs.
