TR2/3/3A "FREE TR3" - Redux

Now for the rest of that story on the free TR3.

My friend has a Really Rusty TR3, 58 or 59 model, that he wants to get rid of. I had made a previous post and got a lot of interest up, sorry if I got some of you too excited. There may be some hope yet for someone out there.
The car was his brother's about 35 years ago or so, was sold, lost track of , and "apparently" hasn't run for about 30 years, was stored out in the open, refound for the old memories, the brother bought 4 Minitaur mags and tires with hope of restoring it, I sat eyes on it 3 years ago...told him it was hopeless....and here we are today.
The engine and tranny with A-type overdrive were offered to me free. As a friend. I really don't want it. I put an 8" pipe wrench on the crank and it actually turned with a little bit of grunt. A good sign. The engine is intact, most everything is still there, I think rebuildable. Did it run before it sat up, I have no earthly idea. But then again no one has laid a wrench on it since about 1975. Lot of mystery here. (General contractors tend to be wheeler-dealers.)
My question, is anyone interested in the whole kit and kaboddle? My friend bought the car as a favor to his brother (he is vague about how much he paid for the thing). Joe, my friend, wants some money for the four new wheels (his brother bought them), I think the engine/tranny has some value, the body might have some usuable parts (mucho rust). The New Orleans car show is weekend after next, be a good time for someone to drag a trailer down to pick it up. Really hard to tell what the worth is (mostly engine/tranny and new wheels). Any more responce? I will post pics if anyone wants.

This car is like the '57 Plymouth in the movie "Christine", starting with the wheels, in this case. I wonder if you roll it, what will refurbish itself next?!

It's pretty bad. I really don't see any salvageable parts on it, maybe a rear fender, with some serious welding. The wheels, of course, are brand new and never used. The engine, on the other hand, probably has some parts of value but would need to be wrenched to check it out. I may just pile the wheels in my Tahoe for the car show and see if anyone wants them for fair market value, guessing $600 (with the tires, also new but nothing special. Be some good tires for restoration use.) I just might take the engine and wrench it, but I really don't want to. No room to work on it, it will mean that my wife will want a new sofa or something. Oh well, just trying to help a friend out. He definately is not into LBC's, other things. So, somebody want a TR3 engine and save me from a new sofa? What is it worth, sight unseen? The car needs to go to the junk yard.

Bill if you want to lay it to rest in our junkyard it will have a home,but after too many trips to Baton Rouge picking up MG parts my husband DARES me to ask to transport anything that he call "spit" and rythmns with Brit!! Anyway are you headed to Metarie through Houma? I'm thinking of driving the mosquito(midget) and Dave is going by BR a day early. I don't want to trailer ANYTHING Maggie hasn't been on a run of great distance this year.......I wonder why.....not even a joke. Long story/be glad to follow you. Top speed on mosquito is 95 so far & would like to cruise 65/70 or under.

Hi tr6Bill I think you might be able to give it a root canal through the control head if you can get the little nerveie wires removed with a long enough pick. Other than that it looks pretty sad. However perhaps, you could stick a couple of stamps on the OD and send it to me Seattle. When I look at it, I see a possible, gearbox, rear end, and some gauges that if they magically fell out of the car would worth something to somebody locally. I must admit that I truly love disassembling those old girls just to see what survived.
