TR2/3/3A Engine Harness and/or Attachment Points for TR3

Hello All

I have an engine cherry picker and the hoist gizmo that allows you to adjust the angle of engine (or engine/tranny) to slip it into the engine compartment. My question is: How have forum members connected to the engine? Has anyone fashioned special brackets for this purpose or is it just too simple to attach chains to various bolts around the engine?

There's so much innovation from this group, I thought there might be some good ideas on this.

Thanks

Pat

The 6 has lifting brackets built on to it. Well, actually bolted to it.

I believe the factory only left those brackets on the later engines. Earlier cars did not have them.

You could certainly add them, but I believe some of the studs actually got longer to accomodate the brackets. Personally, I just use chains.

Does anyone have a photo of these lifting brackets? or can describe where they are located? I thought I was pretty intimate with my engine (OK, stop laughing) and don't know where these are located, if I've even got them.

I don't have either of these fitted to my 59 TR3, Comm No. TS35XXX. Good to know about those. If anyone has photos of those mounted on their car, I'd be interested in seeing them.

PS -- photos are from a TR4 w/o a heater (hence the street ell with plug and the blue harness) but I believe the mounting of these was the same for the TR3A.

PPS -- note the thickness of the rear bracket and the amount of threads exposed on the RR stud -- as Randall noted, this stud is longer on cars fitted with the rear bracket.

This is very helpful. And yup, I've never seen these before. but could now probably fab up something similar for use.

Much appreciated
