Rich,

We have the same pump on our BN2. The steel fitting with the fiber washer is the inlet, the brass one is the outlet. Installed, and looking from the rear, the outlet will be at 12 o'clock, and the inlet will be at about 10 o'clock.

The inlet pipe goes up over the left rear wheel well and down through a grommet into the tank (there should be bendable tabs for support). The outlet makes a 180deg turn and down through a small gap between the chassis and the rear bulkhead--just in front of the left battery if you have two--then along the left chassis main rail to the front.

Hi Rich
Here is a photo of the pump connected to the lower pipe to the carbs.
If you need also photos of the original pipe from the fuel tank to the pump -I have it and I can add the photos to the album
it is a very cornered piece
cheers
Andrea
Thanks Andrea,
I would love it if you could add that photo too. I have the original part as a guide. So now my questions are: 1)if I want to add a fuel filter, it seems that with this pump it should go on the outlet side. Is there a special way to connect the rigid pipe to rubber hose so I can add the fuel filter? Also, 2)If I wish to add a second pump for peace of mind, should I add it in series? and 3)If I use rubber grommets to isolate the vibration of the pump from the chassis (like the heater blower grommets), should I add a grounding strap since I think it grounds through its housing? Is there a need to isolate the vibration or is this overkill?

I don't remember how I did this about 25 years ago
My filter is on inlet side.

After posting this I realized I should replace this old rubber before I have a catastrophic hose failure.

Yea I thought of that too. I plan to open it up to see what came out of the 50 year old gas tank.

Ok so today I went to NAPA and got some green barricade fuel hose and replaced the deteriorating rubber hose that has been in there for 30 years or more. I cut open the metal fuel filter and found it to be very clean inside. My fuel tank is in good shape after 50 years. I put in a NAPA hold clear plastic filter so I can monitor the fuel.
