Spitfire Driving lights for the spit...

Having removed the overriders from my 77 spit, I now have the frame ends sticking out in front...

The back came out fine, as I removed the frame extenders and installed an earlier bumper...(That trim's not misaligned, the boot lid is not latched all the way.)

I thought I'd mount some driving lights to the bonnet hinge mounting bolts.

Can anyone recommend some that will keep with the sort of "British rally car" spirit?

Thanks,
Len

p.s. Notice that I finally got my historic registration. It was really easy in the end...you can do it through the mail in NJ.

They don't shine yet, but here they are...

I decided to hook up my cooling fan tonight instead of the driving lights. They will be operational soon.

Been having conversations with the wifey about the covers...she seems to think that a "tea cozy" type cover would look better. (i.e...fabric cover with elastic.)

Thoughts?

Thanks Brent. They are beginning to grow on me, too. Everyone I asked at work today liked them.

Guy at work: "If you hit anything, they will be destroyed."
Me: "That will be the least of my worries."

Interesting idea about wiring them into the high beams. I think I might put them on a switch (through a relay), and use the high beam circuit to power the switch.
That way, they will only come on if the high beams are on, and when I dip to low beam, they will extinguish along with the high beams.

Thanks for the idea.

Well, you're both right! I'll wager that "guy at work" was thinking in terms of the typical American, practicing the fine art of parallel parking by feel. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif OTOH, they'll probably be missed by most vehicles backing up; unfortunately, most vehicles are high enough that the bonnet will take the brunt of the impact. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif
