Re: Don't want to own it, but I'd like to drive it
Got a friend here in Dayton, OH who has been dropping 3.4 and even 4.3 GM V-6 Engines and T-5? Trannys out of Camaro/Firebird into MGB's and MGB-GT's. He's even working on one using a Supercharged 4.3. I had a chance to ride in his 3.4 with a 5 speed and it's really quick. The combo with Engine and Tranny is 75lbs. lighted that the 1800 CC Lump it replaces and fits with plenty of space in the engine compartment without needing to cut anything. This is a perfect fit for these cars and handling isn't disturbed in fact weight balance is even better.
Now taling about performance, I had a chance to drive in a Stalker V6 - Lotus 7 clone with 3.4 Chevy. A really, really, fun ride. Even better I got a ride in the "Oh My God!!!" Super Stalker with the 4.3 Supercharged Engine making more than 300 horses on 1400 lb chassis. Talk about puttingthe pedal to the medal. Car absolutely jumped from 35 to probably over 100 mph in effortless seconds. A Super Stalker has won the Run and Gun Trophy for Kit Cars two years running. Now to imagine similiar HP in a Spridget, wow.
