Bugeye oil pressure line

Rick. The big pipe comes out of the oil filter and enters the back end of the block. About an 1 1/2" below that entry point is a suspicious looking bolt that enters into the side of the block. Almost straight in. Did a PO block the hole in question and disengage and nullify that side the gauge? The oil pressure side of the gauge its self shows no evidence of use for a long time.

This is where the oil pressure gauge line should be connected. 😁

Yep. The PO put a bolt in there and blocked it off. The lash up to get it going must have been too involved to go to the trouble. Parts and cost probably added to that decision. Guess I have a decision to make. I've been reading on the forum about what it would take to fix it. Don't know if my gauge is operational. He may have that opening to the block boogered up. Any thoughts?

The oil pressure gauge is pretty important in my opinion. I would get the gauge working. The block fitting is normally available from Moss, but is on back order at the moment. Every A-series engine put in a Sprite and Midget had an oil pressure gauge, so used parts are out there. Once you find the fitting the rest is easy. Oreillys, Advance, Autozone, etc. all sell an oil pressure tubing set with fittings that work on the Smiths gauge and the fitting on the block. You can get a kit with nylon tubing or brass tubing.
