I removed and checked my fuel tank a few months ago, and it was fine, so I put it back. Unfortunately I failed to make a good contact for the fuel sender when I reinstalled it, and as a result the fuel gauge, which had been working just fine, no longer worked. I took the tank off again and checked the sender unit itself, and after discovering that my multi-meter was unreliable I bought a new digital one from Sears. I am now reasonably sure the sender unit is OK, going from about 1 ohm to 70 ohms along its full travel.
Question is, how to make sure it gets good contact when I reinstall. I used a wire brush and stuff before but it didn't seem to work. Any magic tricks or spells out there from you level 17 wizards?
