Buckeye Triumphs Tech Tips

Does anyone know what happened to the great tech tips that had been posted on the Buckeye Triumphs web site? I think they were the work of Ed Riedel. His carb, tranny, etc. breakdowns were invaluable. What a shame.

Nelson Reidel pulled his tech articles from the Buckeye website for liability reasons about a year ago. There are archive websites (wayback.com?) that you can use to try to view the articles. Check the post archives at 6Pack for the correct URL. Wise folks downloaded his articles when they were available.

Liability bs is starting to tick me off. I just bought a house and it's $790 a year to insure the house and $1200 a year MORE to insure JUST the sliding board in the pool! So whats next, the swing set? And what about the internet, are people going to be liable for advice on the internet?

That's right, it's a shame!

Tis the nature of our society, always easier to point the finger, blame the other guy and sue than to take responsibility for one's own actions. Nobody wants to admit that they might have done something stupid and screwed up, it's always someone elses fault.

I'm with you though, I think its asinine.

Sometimes it IS the other guys fault, and the only way some people learn not to make dumb mistakes is by being monetarily penalized.

Thanks Dave, you are a lifesaver. Now I have to run out and buy a couple of extra printer cartridges to print all those pearls.

Anyone else out there that wants some really good tech articles should download Reidel's stuff. Pretty good.

I saved the pages, but a few of the pic's did'nt load. Most of them did,...but a few did'nt.
Does anyone have a copy with all the pics that they could email me?
I hit the Refresh Button a bunch of times but it did'nt help.

Hi Bill,
I guess that you noted there are four parts. The links are at the end of the articles. Lot of paper, but worth it.

Don't know how long it will stay in the archive.

How about 3hrs 45min!

I just tried the link and it went nowhere.

Can anyone e-mail me the files?

I'd love to read them.

Thanks

Ditto. The archive link isn't coming up. Did anyone save these files? I ran into the Buckeye site last year and it was indeed great.

I saved the files,....but all I have is the text. None of the pictures are there. If anyone wants the text just email me, and I'll send you what I have

Hey Folks,

I apparently have nothing better to do, but I thought I'd try that link one more time and guess what? The text and pics are coming up! Maybe the server was down or something. Anyway, just thought I'd pass it along.

Good luck

OK, It's back up again. How can I save it to disk without losing the pics?

I've tried everything I can think of, but it always loses the pic's

Any ideas?

Down loading Type J OD pages;

On my browser I have the options of "Save as web page complete" & "save as html only".

When I saved as "web page complete" all of the pics down loaded but weren't fitted into the text. I suspect that someone who knows html could modify the "page source" info to make the pics go into the text properly.

I was able to get most of the pics into proper place with text by saving as "html only". only a couple of pics are missing.

Fortunately, I was able to down load the entire type A OD article while it was on the original web site & working correctly.

Easiest way I found was to load the page, Edit select all, Edit copy and paste into Word. All the formatting and pictures remain intact in the Word doc.

I just got done doing it in Word. Seems to have worked well.

A few pic's did'nt load, but it's only a couple.
