Winter sucks

I sure hope so. Here's a few more. This is the end of my driveway, where I can normally park two cars, so the snow is just about six feet high and nearly twenty feet deep by 25 feet wide, from the plow pushing it all the way back. The others are the front yard and street and finally the birds enjoying some of the feeders we have in the back yard.

GAWD.

...and here I am, whinin' about low 40's overnight.

Apologies, fellas.

One of my idiot neighbors started lecturing me about carbon fuels and global warming about a week ago, as sort of a direct dig into the Triumphs that I own. He left after I gave him my view of the situation and just about 5 seconds before he got a snow shovel stuck up his a$$.

Another self righteous Prius owner........

I love passing Priuses, or is it Priuii, with my TR6 under full throttle. Can't even imagine what wishful thinking that might be going on in their heads. Must be kind of like it was when a Vette would go by my Plymouth Valiant many years ago.

Paul;
Next time ask him about the impact of those batteries in his so-called "trunk".
Not rubbing salt, but I, honestly don't have half that much snow.
But the temps have been 10-15 degrees lower than normal. Don't like that part. It is hard with arthritis.
But hey, only seven more weeks till "SPRING"

Dave

Dave,

The batteries were part of the conversation as well as who will be paying for them down the road. I don't think he'll be back for quite a while.

This is really a freak thing for this area. This was normal back in PA, so I'm used to that, but for around here over the past twenty years, this is a complete change. They used to have this weather in the 50's and early 60's, but until the blizzard of 78 it was mild so far as snowfall goes.

It's about done, so now I'll go clear the deck. My plow guy will be back later today for the driveway (again- he was here at 4AM) and the back patio and front walk. I do the open deck and around the screened in porch to keep that from getting screwed up from the ice and snow.

Time to suit up and dig in...............

I suppose because it isn't normal, you don't have a snowblower.
Be careful shoveling.
And shine the clubs, this won't last forever (don't you just hate some cliches)

Dave :savewave:

Same view as above 18 hours later. Good thing I don't need my lawnmower.

THAT was the winter of our "final straw". Took another 18 months to get all the logistics worked out but NO more 'fat rain' fer us!

Took me and the blower about 2 1/2 hours this morning. Woke the neighborhood up again at 6:30 AM. Had my sweatshirt under my Carhartt chore coat. The top half was sweatin' and the bottom was freezin'.

I got some of the screen porch dug out, but to open the door, I had to dig it out from the outside. I did that and my deck and I just quit. The plow guys can do the rest later today.

A couple of years ago when I went to fire up my grill for the first time in the spring I opened it up and a whole heard of mice scattered in all directions. Over the winter it had turned into a mouse condo. That grossed me out so much, I just shut the cover and pushed it to the curb for the trash man. It was about 12 years old at that point anyway. Good excuse to get a new one.

I'm sure the mice would have been a delicacy in some culture. And as a friend of mine in West Texas used to always say "purify by fire".

Looks like you may have to change the title of this thread to "Winter Still Sucks"!

Re: Winter ~STILL~ sucks

 Okay!

Re: Winter ~STILL~ sucks

Doc, the two things that I do use a lot are my grilles. They are older Weber Genesis gas units that I've rebuilt at least once and many times during the summer and fall, both will be going at once.

I got the decks cleared myself, as my plow guy was swamped with the heavy blade stuff. He did the driveway twice today and made a small path up the front sidewalk, which was fine by me.

I posted these so you can see how much we actually have here right now and they are calling for another storm, in the middle of next week. I have room and I'm running out of places that are easy to lift it up and over. If I make the piles too high, the sun can't get at it to melt the ice off of the concrete.

And on the last picture looking out to the open space in the woods, is the lonely 3rd green and 4th tee at Pawtucket Country Club, which my property borders. It looks a lot better from here in the summer.....
