Why I'm looking forward to 50yrs of Midgets...

This event is not much about the "car show" as it is meeting and sharing and driving (though not real racing). The actual static car show is only a small part of the event.
Exactly, it's the trip there & back, the road tours, parking lot tech sessions, etc. that is the intent of this gathering - I rarely attend car shows locally as well (for reasons stated above), but the Spridget 50th is a different animal & it only happens once - I'm really looking forward to it, once in a lifetime opportunity!

Oh and Hap, A hat/T-shirt would be great as a door prize. Business may be good now, but you never know what tomorrow brings. Keep your company's name out there.

Car Show?
Did we have a car show at LoO. Well kinda, we spent less than an hour, in the rain, and awards were given. That's about all I remeber.
Unlike any other car show I've ever been to, the judgeing of "best" from 100 Sridgets is impossible.
We had wrecks, daily drivers, race cars, all nature of mods and yes a few restoration masterpieces.
It was just a fun week.

Phil, the car show this year is going to be a little different.

There will be many more ways to win ... even for the "non-carshow people"

Hap, the LOTO gathering for the sprite 50 was like no other car show or anything I have ever been to. Everybody knew the cars and was into the cars and it was one of the best times I have had on vacation. I know what you are thinking about a car show and this is nothing like it. The show was just a small part of it. Plus, I learned how to park 4 spridgets in two regular parking spaces. Everybody thinking the same way and every modification you can think of and lots of them home done and very clever. I'm telling you, you would have fit right in around that keg of beer every night after the sun went down talking A series engines and other stuff. Bring a truck full of new wheels and come on up.

Kim, it's the same thing with the NAMGA/B/C/T shows, lots of activities, other than a car show, tech sessions, group rides, area touring, lots of social functions, these events are more of happening than just a car show. A good thing for you Kim, is if you are going to this event this year, you'll also have MG2012 in Dillard , GA next year to check out, now while this event will mosty be MGB based, it will have Midgets, and other MG s there as well, probably about 400-500 entries. You're 100% right, these are much more than car shows.

Trevor, you let me know who and where to send some Acme stuff to.

In case some of you aren't aware, there is a web site and store supporting this event. Consider some of the regalia as the proceeds support activities for the event.

I have several of the items and the printing quality is extremely nice.

Update for the event are posted there as well as many photos of the LotO 50th event of 2008.

Registration payment made last night, registration is in the mail, ferry is reserved, hotel is reserved, now I need to weather to get better here so I can drive the 74 as much as possible to be sure I have most of the bugs worked out !

anyone know when the "preliminary agenda" on the sprite midget 50th site will be updated to "Agenda" ?
Haven't seen any recent activity.

Spridgeteers,

FYI, The hotels are starting to take transient reservations (not Midget 50th) so if you haven't yet made your reservation ya better get on it! If you can't get into the Victorian Village or Seibkens at our special room rate, check the website list of other lodging choices: <https://www.sprite-midgetclub.org/> select "Lodging" under the "Midget 50th" pull down tab...

There will be some special dedications this time to honor our two master Spridgeteers who have been called home this year... Frank Clarici and Paul Asgeirsson. We miss you guys!!

Again:

I know why you are looking forward to 50 years of Midgets. You just want a cool 50 year badge like the Sprites got at LOR. LOL.

The one I have. Need to get a new picture.

Just called and Victorian Village no longer seems to have the $99 rate - do any of the other hotels have special rates before I start calling?

thanks

Hi JP. It is my understanding that the discounted rates ended may 1st. No other hotels have any special rates for the event. If you find a good deal, it may be worth sharing the info.

I've been working 60+ hours per week and had to do a operating system upgrade on this computer so I have not been on here. I ma still very much looking forward to the Midget 50th. Got the hotel reservations, but still need to mail in the registration stuff. I am so much looking forward to this. I got to do some tire work now. I need to turn the back tires around on the wheels and put the new sticker tires on that I bought this weekend on the front to replace the ones that got ruined by the toe in problem. I need to get this done and run the new tires in before we get up there. I have learned from years playing with motorcycles that you don't want to get crazy running tires with any hint of mold release still on them. You need a couple hundred miles on sticker tires before that. Not that I would ever hot rod the car in the curves, but you never know

I just wanted to bump this thread and not let it die. I am wondering who else is going to Elkhart lake Perhaps we can meet up and caravan along the way. I will be hauling mine on the trailer pulled by the Ford Ranger as I did to LOTO, but if someone was having little car problems I could unload mine and drive it and load their's on the trailer if need be. Looks like my route will be from here on I40 to Knoville then North to Lousiville, KY and then up through the "badlands". I am seriously considering to go west through Champagne, IL then North to avoid going through Gary, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc.
