A couple of years ago I had a similar problem when coming back from a car show some 40 miles form my house when my TR3 starting missing. But only when I was just cursing. I had to pull the choke to richen it up and keep it running somewhat smooth. But when I turned left it would run great for a 1/2 mile then back to missing again. The problem was the needle float jet in the front carb was sticking and I had replaced it the year before for the same problem. I asked the form about replacing the needle style with Gross Jets and boy did that stir up some discussions. However it fixed the problem and has been purring ever since. I'd look in floats first.
