Everything should be tight. If a cable comes off, the car won't run. There is plenty of room left to tighten by the looks of it. Get a wrench on there and make it tighter!
As for the positive not going on, loosen the bolt and then spread the clamp open wider with a big screwdriver. If you can't spread it far enough and still allow the bolt to go through, the hole will need to be slightly enlarged. I have a reamer for that you can borrow, or swing it by and I'll do it for you.
PS... I hope you bought those jack stands we were talking about. Don't make me tell these guys you were going to get under the car with not only just a jack holding it up, but the flimsy factory jack!
