Where do I get whitewalls?

But Westley's works great on real whitewalls

We use Westleys Bleech White on them at work when "WE" wash the cars, but it still takes a little scrubbing. Whatever they use at the detail shop is a few grades better than Westley's, just as an observation.

I'm over the 'thing' I had going on the other night, you can come out from under the rock now Jim.

Whitewalls, chrome wires. I've decided that the painted ones, even though more period correct, may be 'lost' with the color of the car. If not, we'll paint the chromes.

As far as cleaning the whitewalls, it's CHUCK'S car, he can clean them.

SOS pad is all I ever used on the cars that I had with whitewalls. Hadn't really thought about what to use on them, but will prolly be SOS pads unless someone comes up with a great spray and rinse product. **HINT HINT KENNY**

I'll ask... Not too sure they'll give up the secret though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Tell them you need to know for a friend that lives in St. Louis and has an MG with fat freddies. Smile and wink at them like I would, toss a hip out a bit and maybe lick your lips, bat your eyes...

Just tell 'em you mentioned to me how great it works and that I'm not around there for them to do my detailing and need to buy some quality product. Heck, I'll buy it from them!

hehehehehehhe.... they mightntake that the wrong way. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Okay, yea, maybe that might be overkill...

I'll still ask though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I was hoping you would. Just be as persuasive (or manipulative) as I am, and it won't be a problem!

Geez. Trev! You whacked a synapse in me nodge with that, and I have the same aversion! Pink-and-white '57 Lincoln me Old Fella had was pimped out with fat freddy white-sides. And I think it was Clorox! BLECH!!

...what a nasty job...

Oh man, Doc. When I worked at the local classic car garage we had a customer with a '57 Linclon Premier 2 door convertable. It also was pink on black, inside and out, and it had a continental kit.
Talk about a barge! but it was an absolute blast to drive. everybody smiled and waved.
That sucker had quarter panals from door jamb to the tip of the tailfin that were 12 Ft. long!!!!
the whole car was around 25 feet!
Thankfully it came in clean, and I never had to deal with the wide-whites.

I'd like to know what they use at the local detailing shop... I stayed and watched 'em do one of the company cars once... Sprayed something on the whites (thin whites tho), and a few minutes later hosed 'em off, and they were cleaner than ever... No touching them. I'll have to ask (if they'd tell me) what they use for that.

Westley's Bleche White with no label on the bottle---Keoke

Whitewalls, chrome wires, oh me. Gona look so good. Can't wait.

Deadline of June 1, was it? It's going to be close! You might have to hire Jack away from his bugeye project.

Nooo, deadline was never June 1st. Was first set June 10th. Now my mother is moving apartments and that's going to really throw a wrench in things (helping her) - but we'll see. Engine and transmission this week (Chuck's convinced he can build the engine today, so much so that he took the tranny along this morning)

6 weeks? Don't see it being possible myself. But could happen.

Six weeks! No bigee if you have all the parts. Eight for sleeping, two for eating, two for internet, two misc. Lets see that leaves pleanty for little car x2 even, gesh two weeks is pleanty. Go for it. Heck thats over 200 hours, how long do you think it should take. Just got to think postive and press on.
I bet you wait on parts more than anything else. It's those things you forgot or did not discover till reassembly that kill ya. You should have a garage full of bright shinny parts at this point with even the bolts layed out and cleaned, etc etc. Oh yea don't forget the lock washers in assorted sizes and pleanty of them. How about dumb things like all new thru firewall gromets and hyd. lines.

Like a dumbie I forgot timeing chain and found I needed a new ring gear when I was putting things back. Slows down the process considerable and I am sure there will be more of those senior moments as I proceed.

See... Hire Jack, then he you can take a trip to Niceville later and return the favor.

You mean like forgetting to order thrust washers when we wanted to build the engine?
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oh I don't even have the interior, top, seat kits or carpeting ordered yet. Still waiting on samples from Moss and Heritage.

People get samples of vinyl & leather before ordering interior kits? Isn't 'black' 'black' and 'vinyl' 'vinyl'? hehehehe

Red's not red though. I have red samples from Prestige, which are perfect, but they don't make door panels for the early MGs. So I have to get those from someplace else. And Moss's reds look VERY red to me, fire engine red, not the 'oxblood' deep red like Prestige.

Black would be simple.

The slow part is not the assemble it is the missing parts. Sigh.
