What is your least favorite related job?

Degreasing anything I think is my least favorite. The old 3A suspension was filthy.

Cleaning the cat box. Oh - doing anything on the rear axles that involves breaking the flanges.

My current least favorite, after yesterday's "fun," is anything to do with the internals of a TR7 convertible door...especially changing the window regulator and reinstalling the glass! :madder:

Andy, when mine need done I'll ship them over to you as you'll be the resident expert

Thanks...I'll get to it right after my son and I finish removing the blown engine from his '81 Subaru and building a new one to go in. Then there's the Herald, the Mercury Mystique, another Herald, the Toyota Paseo (in case I give up on the Mystique), more Heralds, the Standard Pennant, the GT6+ convertible....

It might be awhile.

P.S. Normally, just about any maintenance or repair job on the Mystique (V6) qualifies as a least favorite job!

Removing the starter motor from a Jag E-Type. That was a total PIA. I've heard other people dscribe it as you don't remove the starter from the Jag you remove the Jag from the starter.

The job I'm currently dreading is getting the heads off a Stag motor!

At the moment, any job that requires a tool, particularly one aimed in the direction of a carburetor.

Doug - You can send my your carbs if I can send you the diff!

And failing that - Randy, send me your front suspension bits and I'll send you the diff. They'll come back nicely powdercoated but please don't sandblast and try to powdercoat the diff

Randall - head bolts frozen due to reaction between the metals?

Yup. Several other factors make the job particularly ugly, including the studs not being parallel to the bolts. The clearance between the aluminum head and steel studs is also very tight, so any corrosion in this area tends to lock the studs firmly to the heads.

Plus the heads are made of some very soft (cheap) aluminum alloy that corrodes easily. Apparently some bean counter actually changed the alloy specification, in order to save a few pennies!

Re-arranging my sock drawer.

Actually, anything that has me upside down, on my back, legs curled over the driver's seat, arms threaded through the steering wheel, searching for mounting hardware behind the dash.

I'll keep my eye out for some more Heralds for you to work on.....you seem to be running short on those!! :jester: LOL

Have you tried Doc E's Un-Patented Weasel Pee? That stuff seems to work for everything? Nothing to lose, MIGHT make things easier??

TOP Secret W.P. formula - 50% Acetone, 50% ATF.....but DONT TELL ANYONE!!

Upholstery work. I'll take the de-greasing any day over that.

Been there, done that, wiped your hands on the t-shirt?!

Installing new wiper gear/wheelboxes into a TR6.

Cheers,
Tush

Installing headliners in GT6s. I don't do body work (which would probably rank #1 if I did), so this is the most tedious, nit-picky, patience-sapping job to me on a Triumph.

My being 6'2" and the (very) small interior is a major factor.

Never again, I'm paying someone to do it next time! :cryin:
