No no, hehe, the rubber hose goes on the end of the metal pipe with proper clamp. The metal pipe goes to fuel supply then to carbs.

[/ QUOTE ] Doh! My mistake. I got JBs RB confused with her CB. Not being able to make out the picture I figured if it was a later RB B it looked like a hose from the back of the head itself (not the valve cover) going to the heater box inlet. The second picture she posted was much better.
 
So I can just replace the icky, short flexible hose. Perfect. And the heat shield? Sure, might as well mention that to olwhatshisname, we haven't bickered yet today. Oh wait, he's not here.

No, Emma wouldn't - her metal lines run over the top of the heater, not along its front bottom by the engine.
 
You'll need the brass coupling from the old flex line to use as the end for the conversion to standard fuel line, BTW, so don't toss the old one until you've scavenged it.

EDIT: Or replace it with the correct one from Moss and forget the "standard fuel line" comments.

really? That's very interesting information there. The hard fuel line in my '76 currently runs across the front of the heater box directly behind the engine like it does in Doc's and Bina's pics. hmmmm...
 
Tony means the clutch and brake Bundy pipes.
 
well, either way. I'd be embarassed to park next to Doc's car of Bina at a show... them engine compartments are too clean!

hurry up and drive them and get a little dirt kicked up into the engine bays would ya'll!?!?
 
Mine's in NO WAY as nice as Janel's. Port side of the engine is still in the 80K mile condition. A spare manifold will hopefully find it's way to a powder coater soon and that too will change. Along with a "dress-up" of the Weber and the "ho-made" intake runner.
 
Fuel hoses are covered in a braid...they also have solid fittings attached to the pipe. Yes, thee is a shield on later cars. You pipe should have a adel, or "p" clip on the end that you are showing.

Well Doc, as much as you wanna denounce the cleanliness of your under bonnet environment, it's still worlds better than what it looks like under me bonnet... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
 
The lines MG was pretrcting are the brake/clutch lines...once they started putting them over the top of the heater box, they did away with the heat shield....I keep those little buggers as they're becoming quite rare.
 
You have any pics of the hard lines going over the heater box, Tony? All the hard lines that cross behind the engine (clutch, brake, and fuel) on my car are in front of the heater box. If this is wrong I'd like to see how they should be routed so I can correct it.
 
On mine, the right front brake line, and the rear brake line run over the heater box, but the clutch line is still in front of the box... No heat sheild. I'll snap a pic tomorrow. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
 
You know what, Kenny - you may be right about the clutch line...I'll go look at one of my cars.
 
On top of that, the left front brake line runs straight down right beside where there should be a catalytic converter, near the downpipe. Also unsheilded.
 
Yep, 2 lines running over the top of the heater.
