I know, I know, I said I was done with car stuff.

This fabric hose that runs from the back of the valve cover to the heater box area (marked in photo) It's old, yucky and while I'm replacing old yucky bits (olwhatshisname is gone til Friday evening) I want to replace it too. The new bits will just miraculously appear in his truck.

Picture's not to clear. But it looks like someone is using the old water choke outlet to connect to the heater. If so? I must ask why? Not so sure the coolant would flow all that well configured this way. Two different sized outlets.

Do you have a better picture (close up) it might help better understand what's going on.

Ain't no "water choke" on Binabox. If it comes OUT of the valve cover it is a crankcase vent and could be routed to a "spill bottle" but was originally routed to the PCV/vacuum device thingie between the carbs on the intake manifold, IIRC.

EEEP!!! That's the fuel supply from the pump!

That's what I thought, the fuel line is right there.

Moss #376-320 ~or~ 376-910, depending on chassis #.

You can just go down to the local autoparts chain or favorite local parts store and pick up some regular low pressure rubber fuel line to replace that bit. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Janel - you need to install a heat shield in front of that heater...its a little "L" shaped piece about 6" or 8" long that protects the brake, clutch, & gas lines from the heat at the rear of the engine...attaches by 2 of the screws that holds the heater in place.

Can I just replace that flexible hose that's 4-6" long, or are we talking the metal line too? I have to do this on the down low and I need to be able to do it myself.

Mine's been missing for years. Thought about replacing it but never had a problem with the first four or five MGB's without it so... *shrug*

You can just replace the flex hose - but be sure to get gas line..& the braided like OE is pretty.

Why does mine look different than the dozen pictures I just looked at of 66ish engine bays? All those come straight from the heater box along the driver's side of the valve cover to the front of the engine.

Missing Doc? That's not a crucial bit of carbit there?

Janel - depends on whether the gas goes to the rear or front carb first...looks like yours is set up to go to the rear carb first.

That piece is not necessary, but the factory put it there for a reason - plus it just looks neat to still have one after 30+ years!

That's one fine looking exhaust manifold.

Tony, I can't picture what you're talking about. Got Kodak?

That metal pipe can be replaced with flex line? I'm getting confused now.

The heat shields on all but one of my cars were never there. My fuel line setup (notice the nifty shiny heater box!):

Are we talking about that flexible hose on the back by the heater box? It doesn't do anything? It just looks neat?

Is mine right?
