What does it mean when chicken wings are market price?

Still have a hard time understanding the fascination over "chicken wings." They were considered scrap when/where I grew up.
 
When I checked out at the supermarket,I asked the young female cashier
if the chicken legs I bought were the front,or back ones.
After she checked with the meat cutter,she gave me some dirty looks.
at least it wasn't snipe wings :ROFLMAO:

A few years ago chicken wings were in such demand that some restaurants were selling "boneless" chicken wings. Or in other words cut up chicken breast. Chicken wings are of course a commodity item, not much different than a bushel of corn, and apparently there can be huge changes in price.

I've got those Buddy Hackett clips from him on Johnny Carson in my classic tv folder, they're great.

As for chicken wings, I just can't contribute to adding to all those chickens running around out there with little hooks instead of wings...

They were considered scrap where I grew up as well.

But, then I grew up. :D I marinate them in buttermilk, toss in flour and red pepper, fry in oil... yum!

(Are they the end-all, be-all? No; I prefer a steak on the grill. I'll make chicken wings maybe once a year; superbowl with wings and some cold CAB is not so bad. And boneless chicken wings??? Don't get me started... ick.)

Oh, I'll consume 'em if offered. But paying as much as $0.50 apiece in some pub or restaurant is lunacy IMO.

Agree! (But then again, I won't pay for a steak in a restaurant either... rather spend the same big bucks at a butcher, get a prime cut, and fire up the weber!)
