Tri-Carb Project

I’m anxious to get her back from paint , it’s been a long haul on this car . She’s been in progress on and off since 2007ish .
once it’s painted you know your on the home stretch , every piece you add once painted really starts to make it look like a real useable car and all that money ,time ,cursing , grazed knuckles ,burnt fingers etc becomes worthwhile .

It just gets better , look what arrived today , remember my dilemma about the unobtanium 5 3/4” headlight trim rings so I fabricated my own by reducing 7” ones .
Well by complete chance I ended up finding a guy in the UK who restored an Austin Atlantic to a beautiful show winner . I contacted him to see if he knew where I maybe able to find the correct trim rings as they were used on the centre spotlight on the Atlantic .
Turns out he had two original still in boxes Lucas trim and backer rings in his attic .
Cost me an arm a leg a kidney and lots of dollar bills but hey now one ever said restoring old iron was cheap .
My self fabricated ones are a the chrome shop now so I will have a choice on which way I finish them .

So is it “let the fun begin” or “let battle commence”
Hard top shell picked up from the painter . I will give it a few days to harden up a bit more then start reassembly of the top .

Installing the vent may take some of those wrinkles out. It will pull that fabric tighter.

The hard part about installing the rear window is trimming it to the right size.

I got some gasket material today so the vent can go in once I cut the gasket .
Latches can also go on soon as well now I solved the screw sizing issue .
I have read over Lin‘s Healey 6 article about window sizing and how they had to reduce the size of his to make it fit .
Fortunately I do have the window that came out of the top and will compare my replacement to the old one before attempting installation .

So I have a dilemma , looking for input .
The car is going to be Healey Blue , the hardtop is OEW with a silver rally vent .
My painter asked me today what colour the scuttle scoop is going to be .
should it be body colour or OEW or silver ?
Opinions please good or bad .

The other scuttle scoops I've seen have been body color. including this one (unfortunately, the hood is in the way).

I told my painter to do it body colour . It has a brass strip on the front edge which I don’t think could be removed and refitted after paint without trashing the paint .
I would be good if they could remove the brass , paint it , then refit the brass and clearcoat it . More conversations with my painter needed .

Body Color of course, is there any other reasonable option.

While I wait for answers Re my hardtop rear window seals I finished my rally vent install .
All stainless fastners , pretty acorn nuts inside , off white gasket between the vent and top so you don’t see an ugly black line .

Things are moving along at the paint shop. It should be getting some primer in the next few days.
