TRF SUMMER PARTY IN JEOPARDY

If there are any of us that are planning to attend the Roadster Factory Summer Party this June 19 - 21 they need us to register ASAP. No matter what you think of TRF company this is a fun event and they do a great job with racing and tech sessions. Camping, fires and movies are all fun too. Plus meeting all the LBC enthusiasts to. I think the cost is only $29 this year. O well thought I'd put this up and we can kick it around.

Any of us on BCF could all camp, meet or have our own get together too?

I'm wondering if fuel costs and overall rising costs of everything hasn't put a damper on a lot of extra travel this summer for everyone.

Bill: I agree. I had to run up to Reading, PA this morning to pick up a part for the Dyson vac. Considering the price of gas and the distance, it was a toss up in cost compared to a part from the internet, but I needed it right away. At $3.67/gal this was probably a $20 trip + cost of the part.

Maybe this will encourage more local events.

I just finished a quick round trip of 400 miles with a two nights stay in Northern California. The wife had a little issue with paying $80 a night for a motel. When I pointed out it will take $80 to fill the trucks 20 gallon tank, the cost of the motel was no longer on her mind. In the end, 2 nights in the motel $160, three tanks of gas, $240.

Get out there and drive. The cost of gas is only going to go up. Make the most of your "cheap gas". It is $9.50 a gallon over here!!

Ray,

Where were you in Northern CA?
Anywhere near Eureka?

I would love to go except I'm not sure either myself or the TR6 could do the 2,139 miles

Doug, The wife and I drove our old Nissan 4X4 pickup from Santa Cruz to Oroville to met with realtors and walk the mountain property we own near Plumas National Forest and have just put up for sale.

But Nick, your gallon is ~20% larger

I do agree though I just filled up at $7 / US gallon, and am still driving.

Sadly I took that into account!! Although the price has dropped a bit now that the Scottish refinery strike is over. A friend in the USA sent me an e-mail remarking that petrol there is now as expensive as beer! I replied that I wished our beer was that cheap! £2.70 for a pint of Belhaven Best!!

Ever tried brewing your own beer at home. Some swear by it.

Yes but 400 miles will get you across Scotland and back.

The guy that does the Toyota conversions (Herman Von something)did it at lease 3 times. He's in CA. In fact I loved the color of his TR250 when I saw it in person I painted mine the same. I've met many from all over the US and Canada.

I know it's expensive to go but if it's with in driving distance I'd consider going. This could be the last one with poor turn out or he may cancel altogether if reservations don't pick up. Not too may places around here to do those kind of things with LBC cars. He is talking about end the event.

Well here is a copy of the paragraph of Charles' news letter.

***********************************************************

TRF's 30th Anniversary Summer Party is in jeopardy, as we have not
had enough registrants. We understand that gas prices are very high and
that many enthusiasts may not want to travel this summer. I can accept if
Summer Party has outlived its time. It was a good event enjoyed by many
for a very long period. We will need 125 pre-registrants by the end of
May, or Summer Party, 2008 will be canceled. I have been working on a
Summer Party Surprise, and it will be a shame to let it go!

That's one event I'd like to do someday.
I can't really afford it right now,but I'd
almost be willing to pay the entry fee to
support it,& keep it going.
Keep us up on how many entries they have/need.
