Hi All,
The plan is to pull the transmission next weekend., Interior is stripped and everything is ready to go - next step is to remove the (16) nut/bolts in the bell housing. But, before I do, my question has to do with supporting the engine. I plan on using a large scissors jack with 2x4s under the sump - see photos. I have it positioned just before the oil drain plug. The reason I plan to support from here is b/c the sump has a raised profile for the drain plug. Plus, if I place it too far back it may impede access to the lower bell housing bolts. I plan to insert a folded towel where the 2x4 contacts the sump for added cushion and protection.
Is supporting the engine this way a good idea? Bad idea? Other solutions? Does this risk damaging the sump? I hope not as I just removed, stripped, straightened and epoxy-painted the sump last summer.
Thanks
Bob
