Whie the Rolling Stones (and the Who, the Beatles, ...etc., etc.) are stuff of legends, there is plenty of great music being created today. Unfortunately, the decline of independent radio means most radio stations broadcast the same songs by the same artists no matter where you are. But look out for the local college / university stations for the interesting stuff. (Even some of the popular music is great, just overplayed. Taylor Swift is a great storyteller, and Beyonce an incredible vocalist.)

The challenge with music and many other things in life is that when it comes to taste there is no right answer. We enjoy what we enjoy.
Soooo, maybe we can move to a more general appreciation of silliness.

Her music isn't good. It just sounds like all the other pop stuff that has been produced in the past twenty years.

I have to say, I have only heard a few snips of her songs, but none of these were interesting enough for me to want to hear more.

Sadly, since I teach I have a lot of students who want to expose me to some of their culture. I've listened to two of her songs all the way through and found the experience vapid.
 
Like food and what you want dining out, it's all in what your taste likes. I have music from current to long before there was recording tech I listen to. Shoot, the other day was playing 40s swing which isn't everyone's taste.

But you're right that today's playlists on commercial radio are only an hour or two long, then repeat. To have noise in the house as I work, tend to have talk on even though I don't pay that much attention. But better than hearing the same songs several times a day, every day...
