Thought of the Day - Music related

The crap they call music today...
Whie the Rolling Stones (and the Who, the Beatles, ...etc., etc.) are stuff of legends, there is plenty of great music being created today. Unfortunately, the decline of independent radio means most radio stations broadcast the same songs by the same artists no matter where you are. But look out for the local college / university stations for the interesting stuff. (Even some of the popular music is great, just overplayed. Taylor Swift is a great storyteller, and Beyonce an incredible vocalist.)

And back to the joke thread...
  • What do you call a person who is really fast at altering clothes? Tailor Swift.
  • Isn’t ending a relationship with Taylor Swift the best way to make it more public? You get a whole album.
  • What is Taylor Swift’s computer password? Iknewyouweretroublewhenyouloggedin.
  • Yo mama so fat, her shirt size has more X’s than Taylor Swift.
  • Taylor Swift tried skydiving, but she ended up writing a song called “Fearless Freefall”!
  • Taylor Swift went to space, and her first words were, “That’s one small ‘Shake’ for man, one giant ‘Giggle’ for mankind!”
  • Why did Taylor Swift become a magician? She mastered the art of making ex-boyfriends “Disappear”!
  • Why didn’t the vampire attack Taylor Swift? Because she had bad blood!
  • What do John Wilkes Booth and Taylor Swift have in common? They both know how to get a crowd going
  • What's the difference between Taylor Swift and a stale Pepsi? The stale Pepsi won't write a song about me after I dump it.
And finally:
  • A woman goes to the mechanic complaning of a terrible noise in her car. The mechanic looks, thinks for a second, and asks her: "Have you tried turning your Taylor Swift playlist off?"
:p

I can't stand her,as a lot of her followers act like they belong to a cult.
I couldn't name a song she sings, but are her fans really a reason to not like her if her music is good?

The challenge with music and many other things in life is that when it comes to taste there is no right answer. We enjoy what we enjoy.
Soooo, maybe we can move to a more general appreciation of silliness.

To wit:

I couldn't name a song she sings, but are her fans really a reason to not like her if her music is good?
Her music isn't good. It just sounds like all the other pop stuff that has been produced in the past twenty years.

I have to say, I have only heard a few snips of her songs, but none of these were interesting enough for me to want to hear more.

Sadly, since I teach I have a lot of students who want to expose me to some of their culture. I've listened to two of her songs all the way through and found the experience vapid.

Like food and what you want dining out, it's all in what your taste likes. I have music from current to long before there was recording tech I listen to. Shoot, the other day was playing 40s swing which isn't everyone's taste.

But you're right that today's playlists on commercial radio are only an hour or two long, then repeat. To have noise in the house as I work, tend to have talk on even though I don't pay that much attention. But better than hearing the same songs several times a day, every day...

And I'm not to fond of Tiny Tim,Yoko Ono,or Micheal Bolton either.
Whenever I have a situation where I want to hear anything I listen to KPIG radio.
They are the most diverse music station I've ever heard.
Everything they play is interesting and NOT background.
I have been listening to them since around 1977 when I moved to California.
Now they can be tuned in on your phone or computer with a subscription($50/year).
If you live on the Central coast, they are on 107.5 FM.
Anyone can try them out for 30 days for free and there are no commercials.
