Travis lived on the houseboat Busted Flush at slip F-18, Bahia Mar Marina, in Fort Lauderdale. While Bahia Mar Marina does exist, there is, sadly, no F-18. I am beginning to think that John D. MacDonald made the whole thing up.

With all the discussion about bad car repairs.. I my minivan failed safety inspection.. because the clip on the end of the steering rack boot was missing. I put 2 on just to make sure they wouldn't get lost again.... at least not in the near future.
Seeing all these creative "repairs" I think I will happily put up with the nuisance of inspections if only to make sure my idiot neighbors are keeping their cars safe.
