Them's da' brakes!

Dale you just need to adjust the rear brakes....
All you need to do is tighten up those square adjusters on the bottom of the back plate of the brake and the brakes will feel nice and firm again.
Just to clarify for your benefit, Dale, the adjusters work in quarter-turn increments. One can easily be fooled by turning the adjuster less than that and have the brakes pretty much lock tight to the drum. (If you look at the "cam" in the adjuster, you'll see it's shaped rather like a pyramid with rounded corners.)

Modern cars do this automatically, and all is well until the adjuster mechanism rusts itself stuck, and then it is twice as much work to repair.
I couldn't agree more. Granted, I love "tinkering" with cars, but I'll take manually adjusted drum brakes any day over "self-adjusting" brakes! :wall:

Well, baring anything unforeseen, it looks like there will be a car show after all.

Bob, I always try to help someone if I can. I know what it's like to plan to do something and end up with car issues at the last minute, so Bill had my sympathy.

Bill's not really a bad guy, even if his red battery cable is shinier than mine.........

Thanks for the tip.

I'll gladly give you my red battery cable for your help!

Well I didnt get to the exchange today,
but Thursday looks hopeful.

I did get the rotors turned.....

Thanks Bill, but I'll polish mine for the weekend. It should be fine for the show.

You concentrate on getting your brakes swapped out. FWIW, I used Castrol brake fluid in the system as well. The new system is silicone in both clutch and brakes.

Saturday I bleed!!! :driving:

Bill!!

Why do you have so, SO much MORE
for your almost $50K spent than I do
for my $50K?

I barely have a parts car and you have a
streetable beauty, daily driver;;; with a fuel tank,
I might add.

T'aint fair, MaGee!!!

That booster and master look right at home in there, my friend.

Looks like we'll be seeing you and Deb on Sunday.

OYE!!!!

wel the brakes are fantastic, but I took for a ride around the corner and the transmission blew up!!!!

I just contacted John at Quantum, so were in the process of trying to fix it,,,,

needless to say it wont be making it uo to Waterford on Sunday!

I tried, I Realllllllly Tried!!!!.........

I hate to say it, but that's what you get for saying that you don't have that much into the car.
She heard you and got jealous...

lol

The problem is: the Transmission is only 6 months old!!!

luckly its still under warentee....

I just cant catch a break!

Well, that just plain stinks!

I guess there's good and bad in everything.

Bad - Transmission is broken.

Good - Transmission is broken, but not on RT95 or in tunnel on Merritt Parkway in rainstorm during rush hour traffic.

Good - Transmission and John are both in CT, not too far apart.

Good - Transmission still under warranty.

Good - You now have brakes, so after the tranny is fixed, you'll be able to drive it.

Better - We'll still see you and Deb tomorrow.
