The Accidental Healey

It did the same thing again, too depressed to bring out the camera. Looks the same but I did wipe it down, going on the trailer tomorrow, Start driving home to SoCal on Saturday.
Chris...

We got it to run on prime so the starter and ignition circuit works. No power to the instruments or fuel pump so we pushed it onto the trailer. In Elk City, OK tonight.

New Healey-Jamaican in SoCal. A certain 1957 BN4 with a Jamaican body and 327 is registered as a '57 100-6 2DR. YOM plates were verified by the DMV people and said to be okay, then they gave me a temporary until the end of April and said if I didn't get confirmation from Sacramento by then to come back and get another temp!
Wife's in the hospital, don't know what it is but I'm sleeping there for the next few days so no Jamaican stuff for a while.

Quick run to put the Jamaican to bed, drop the trailer and get back to the hospital. Picked up Dad (his 81st was yesterday) and headed to the hangar, pushed her off of the trailer and mocked it up a bit with my old fashioned 3-bladed knock offs and headlight covers for fun.

Healey 100 chassis for sale or gift. Local pick-up preferred, Chino Airport near Ontario International Airport, San Bernadino County, California.
Its a roller, steers a bit stiff. Mags, 5 lug hubs, frame has an ID tag, super rusty.
I need it out of my hangar this month, no unreasonable offer refused except I won't pay you!
See classifieds tonight...

I'm on a trip at work and then will go to Florida to ferry my parent's old Stinson from PGI to SoCal, but I did receive my permanent registration and am legal to use my old California yellow with black character plates with the license number on the registration. They send you two little metal tags to hold the modern month and year stickers and your old plate retains it's year of manufacture sticker, in my case the California red sticker of 1957. Pretty cool, I'll get the title here pretty soon and then all of the paperwork will be in hand.
More Jamaican stuff when I get the Stinson home, I've got a lot of Healey components to meld into the Jamaican. Disc brakes on front, wire wheel hubs for the back and new wheels and tires will be soon coming. Stay tuned...

I'm back from the Stinson trip. Received my wire wheel rear end and front disc brake components and will send the diff out for overhaul with it's new 3:54 gears. Hopefully it'll be on the road by summer safely.

Left the rear end at Gene Mitchell's shop, he'll send it out to his buddy that does his diffs.
He told me that back in the early 60's he had a Healey 100 with a 327 and an American manufacture 3 speed trans (I can't remember which) with a cable operated overdrive and it really hauled. He removed his 48 spokers for steel wheels as so many did way back when. He liked my Cobra wire wheel 6 inch wide 15's idea, though.
Getting ready for the airshow at Chino this weekend, my buddy that's going to help me do the grunt work on the Jamaican will be coming out tomorrow. Hopefully we'll put a plan together for a quick frame repair and suspension overhaul to be completed in May.
Chris...

I took these today for the insurance company. The rear end is now overhauled with new 3:54's installed, Mitchell said they dropped right in. Need to get a charging system working and a seat mounted, then I'll video some smoky burnouts with the 4:10's in it now!

Hi Rick,
How's the driving season going up there?
Yes, the ducting is about an inch outboard of the cutout and it comes towards the radiator quite far. It'll need lengthening to do what it was designed to do and is open on the bottom so to be very efficient it'll need a good finishing of floor, extension and rubber seals against the radiator itself. I have a good used 100-Six grill element to cover the intake when it gets that far.
I was hoping someone wanted the Swamp Rat for a similar type project, four wheeling is popular here in the high desert! I towed that chassis out to the side of the dumpster expecting a scolding from the airport manager the next morning but it was gone! Some guys were parting it in another hangar they worked out of we found out later.
Chris...

Glad to hear the V-8 is getting out. Great car.
Yeah I stole the grill idea from Dan. He's doing another one but he never sent me a picture and I owe him an e-mail. Be nice to see what he's doing on this one.
