It looks like you had to empty out the majority of your spare parts stash to hold the groceries. Very brave of you. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Little screws?

Yeah, they're are from DPO Pedro's failed fuel level sending
unit top. Tony is getting me a new sending unit.

I think I have only removed and replaced maybe 90%
of the car; so a few Pedro-ized parts remain to fail at various times in the future.

Glad to hear it Dale. You deserve a good long period now without a breakdown. It's great fun using the TR for every-day tasks and it is amazing just how much you can get into or on a TR.

Dale: It's nice to see you and Wendy are now reaping the benefits of all that hard work and frustration. I can just taste that cuban sandwich and cold cerveza! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif

Looking forward to it Frank. My pleasure to take you
and the Boss out for a Cubano and glass of house red.

The way it's looking right now- you'll be driving the Mrs
to La Castilla panaderia in Amos.

I gave Amos a test of fire tonight:

A full 45 minutes in after dark, rush hour, Bayamon
traffic. Only added 12 miles more but every mile without
a breakdown counts toward reliability. And everything
worked except the broken fuel level switch.

I like my dash lights at night!!

Hey John,

The dash DOES look pretty good at night, doesn't it?

Remember, I took apart all my gauges and cleaned them up
inside real good. All new wires and new light bulbs as well.
The blue high beam light and twin turn signal lights
I installed in the dashboard add to the total light available
for night photos. The blue high beam light yields a weird
blue tint to the photo.

regards,

d

The dash looks GREAT but what does that wire coming out of the dash at the steering column go to?

Dale- That wire is suppose to have a bullet connector on it and connects down at the end of the steering column with all the turn signal and headlamp switch stuff. though on yours I think you moved some of that to the dash. The wire that is attached. to the horn ring has a bullet to and goes to the P/B wire that is shown.

Amos is parked in the garage, soaking wet,
with 265 miles driven toward 500..

A one hour and 40 minutes drive from Hades today.
Amos ran just great but due to operator error, Amos'
lid blew off in a torrential downpour going 50 MPH.
Wendy was quite surprised, to say the least.

But HEY!! The four ways worked just fine, the wipers
wiped away at hurry-up speed. The running lights were
running just fine and dandy. The horn wire came loose
and found it's own ground, so we were beeping loudly
as we flapped along the expresso in the slow lane.
Many kind folks waved and beeped back at us.

Sunday will be a real test of fire for Amos. We are
taking Amos to a U.S. Power Squadron family day
cookout----100 miles round trip with no life line.

Saturday is fishing day and the Mrs. birthday as well.

Making some progress. Could not attend 100 mile R/T
BBQ- the Mrs ill plus heavy afternoon rains.

BUT!! Got in three hours drive time in Amos with
85 miles additional added today. 350 miles total
toward the 500 mile finish line. 12+ hours total drive
in 22 months- getting better.

Great end of the day. A Beemer roadster pulled off
the beach highway to personally inspect Amos. A wealthy
older gentleman 'thusing over my beat up TR6. Imagine!!
A perfect end to a perfect early evening beach drive.

Yes, I am having fun now!!!! Amos is a blast to drive.

There's a race just looking for a place to happen!

Dale.
I'm sitting here trying to find slow, easy things to do as I recuperate from surgery, and your out having a good time in Amos.
I am absolutely thrilled!!!

The picture says it all; the Triumph "classic car" being driven with the top down as it was designed to be and the "car" being driven with the top up. Doesn't look like it's raining there, so what's his excuse? He might just as well be in a Cadillac on the way to the early sitting at the buffet.

Congrats Tinster, you deserve the pleasure you now are starting to get out of the car.
