Still married to your first wife? How many years?

2nd hitch up for both of us, first date on 7/7/73, married 2/14/76. Her first husband was with IBM and serviced the account where I worked. He and I rode dirt bikes along with a number of other IBM'ers and we all partied together so I knew Brenda for two or three years before their marriage broke up. Never anything between us and she wasn't attracted to meat all.

First date was to a going away party for a mutual friend and it was on from there. Never regretted it and still don't. Best friend and smartest person I know.

Married friday May 13 1969 I was due to leave for army basic training next day and married to provide her and infant daughter with benifits etc. if anything happend to me.When we went to the draft office to update my info they told me I didn't have to go as Ihad wife/child!To this day when she is [censored] with me she says I only married her to stay out of the army. But 42 years later we're still together and in love.

We celebrated 50 years this past July

Can't believe that as it sure doesn't seem like 50 years

I guess work and loving it up made time just slip by.Our baby is 40 and we had 4 boys.

I would do it again in a heartbeat

Met my wife during mid-terms my junior year in high school 1993 (Her senior year). we got married Oct. of 97. here we are 14 years later.....

I would NEVER get married on Friday the 13th

Kelly was born on Friday the 13th...and her brother too 5 years later.

And yes, it's bad luck...you get me as a relative.

1st, 7 years, met when I was 32, decided two weeks later to tie the knot, did that two year later.

I'm not the marring type ( never knew that till I got married). She is the only thing that makes it doable. Wouldn't trade her for anything...but if anything ever happened....NEVER AGAIN !!!! ( she says the same thing, could ya blame her? :wh)

Purple Heart or CMO. If it's anything like being married to me it's definatly hazardous duty. :jester:

Was home on leave from the Air Force between assignments (headed to Germany for 2 years). Went to the bar and met a young lady there. Danced all night and something sparked. We dated for the 3 weeks I was home, and then corresponded for the 2 years I was overseas. Came back and we reconnected, and about a year and a half later got married. That was 31 1/2 years ago.

Doc,

You & me seem to feel the same - why would a GREAT-
Woman hang around with a jerk like that?
I am never worthy of Sylvia, but she still puts up
with me.
BTW - there's 9 cars around here now.Does that tell you
anything?

To those that have been married many years I envy you your past and know my future. Admittedly, she's not my first wife, but SWMBO is definitely the one. First wife was my own stupidity, I learned my lessons though.

We've known each other for 10+ years, dated for 6 months, married 3.5 years. When I married her I got the instant family kit: she already had a daughter and we found out the week after I popped the question that she was pregnant with my son. We've got two now, thinking about a couple more, I'm shooting for a hockey team.

My wife was a flower bud when I met her, over the last few years she's bloomed beautifully. Not only does she support my automotive habits, but she and both the kids routinely join me (without protest  ) out in the garage working on cars, going to shows and all the like. At the rate she's going I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get aggravated waiting on me and restores her own car. And, a muscle car yen aside, she's got great taste in cars. Her current want list is a 71 Challenger, XK150 coupe, MGA Coupe, E-Type Coupe, and a Morris Minor 1000 convertible.

It was funny. When we started dating I'd given up on the family thing. My house and cars were all on the market. I was shopping for a trimaran and had decided to say "Screw it" and permanently go sailing. Sure, I don't have my boat, but I've got a pretty danged good 50 years to look forward to.

Jody

p.s. don't tell the wife, it'll go to her head.

The first time I asked my wife for a date was in February 1971. Our second date I stood her up to buy a 1967 Austin Healey Sprite. For some unknown reason she gave me a second chance and went out with me on a third date. January 22, 1972 we married and will be 40 years next month.

We are now trying to determine a destination to celebrate our 40th anniversary.

We like traveling to destinations in the south for our January anniversary. For the past 39 anniversaries we have visited most southeastern and southern California areas and several cities in Texas. We traveled to Nassau one year, New Orleans one year, and another year to Vegas. Does anyone have an anniversary travel recommendation in southern USA for late January 2012? Scottsdale is out of the mix because the attractions are considered too male gender specific at that time of the year. She must still be a little sensitive about our second date…

We just celebrated 30 years together. We came from rival high schools, as did a lot of other couples we know that are still going strong. There was another wedding that year, across the pond, they didn't do as well. When we are with a gathering of other couples and the conversation turns to remembering the date and years of Anniversaries, (with a dreamy far off look) I throw a line out like..."I can still remember exactly what she was wearing the very first time I saw her"..."Kind of a light blue top with white trim, and matching pants.".Most of the women there think that this is so romantic, and the guys in attendance see this as a bravado measuring stick/challenge.... Until after the usual pause for effect my wife says "Of course he remembers what I was wearing, We were both working at McDonald's, and everyone was wearing the same thing!" Still for just a little while, in that room, I reined supreme.

1st marriage, was a pracitce marriage of 7 years.

One of us had to Sober Up.

2nd one though, 22 years strong now.
