To those that have been married many years I envy you your past and know my future. Admittedly, she's not my first wife, but SWMBO is definitely the one. First wife was my own stupidity, I learned my lessons though.
We've known each other for 10+ years, dated for 6 months, married 3.5 years. When I married her I got the instant family kit: she already had a daughter and we found out the week after I popped the question that she was pregnant with my son. We've got two now, thinking about a couple more, I'm shooting for a hockey team.
My wife was a flower bud when I met her, over the last few years she's bloomed beautifully. Not only does she support my automotive habits, but she and both the kids routinely join me (without protest

) out in the garage working on cars, going to shows and all the like. At the rate she's going I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't get aggravated waiting on me and restores her own car. And, a muscle car yen aside, she's got great taste in cars. Her current want list is a 71 Challenger, XK150 coupe, MGA Coupe, E-Type Coupe, and a Morris Minor 1000 convertible.
It was funny. When we started dating I'd given up on the family thing. My house and cars were all on the market. I was shopping for a trimaran and had decided to say "Screw it" and permanently go sailing. Sure, I don't have my boat, but I've got a pretty danged good 50 years to look forward to.

p.s. don't tell the wife, it'll go to her head.
