SSsnake's Getting His 'Eyes'

SSsnake's 'Stablemates'

One of the things I like about the body shop I use are all the interesting projects they work on. Here's a photo of a Triumph hardtop they just finished restoring; then a photo with an early Firebird in the foreground and an old pickup in the background that they just mated frae and cab; and, finally, a couple of photos of an old, strange-looking jeep body they're painting tomorrow.

The owner of the body shop is a master bodyman and these are the type projects on which he likes to work. He has employees who only work on a steady stream of government contracts (in the photo of the Frebird you can see a partial pallet of military parts they're powder coating) and employees who work on modern cars, usually insurance jobs, that allow him to do what he prefers.

He's slow; but man is he good!

Re: SSsnake's 'Stablemates'

I'm starting to like the shape of the grill area and the lights. Heck, that front is comming together.

Re: SSsnake's 'Stablemates'

I agree with Jack, it is starting to give me a warm feeling.

My got. If you squint a bit it's a Bugeye.

Re: SSsnake's 'Stablemates'

Well, by the time its finished, it will be more like an oval than the original grille opening!

Re: SSsnake's 'Stablemates'

The body's still not ready for paint but today I picked the colors anyway....the body will be Pepper metallic gray; the stripes will be Pewter metallic gray (a lighter color) and the center stripe will be Black metallic gray oversprayed with Pewter metallic grey in a snakeskin pattern....thus, SSsnake!

Interesting how they folded it into the fenders themselves...a bit large for the little car trhough, don't'cha think?

For the Midget I'd tend to agree, but given that you want to do this on the MGB, I think it would significantly improve the final look. It wouldn't look quite so 'tacked on'.

I think it might be worth the extra work to make some pedestals you could attach to the fender tops. They don't need to be very thick, as they wouldn't be supporting anything.

Think of things like the NSX.

For those that didn't follow the first link, here is the Midget - the spoiler sits on the boot lid but blends into the fenders:
