SSsnake's Getting His 'Eyes'

Well, I look everything over real closely before making final decisions - one of the many reasons this project has gone on so long...I'm gonna go ahead with the construction of the rear spoiler because right now I kinda like it....it makes the car look longer to my eyes......& I've got a way to go until I have to make a final decision - hopefully we'll get the car in white primer soon & I'll be able to tell more then when its pushed outside.....you guys don't know how many man-hours of labor I already have in that body!

We've also already started making the chin spoiler that I showed a cardboard mockup of in an earlier thread......I'll think that one over closely also before making a final decision.

A bit late to rethink anything as basic as carbs, but I really like this set up on the same engine in an MGB, and you could run a flat (raised) bonnet with them......

Racing MGB GT bottom of the page, white/green GT with 4 DCOE Webers on a Rover engine.

PS. consider a vertical air dam. You really won't need down force for what you can legally do with the car, but an air dam will improve theoretical top end without the usual parasitic power loss. Also easier to integrate into the styling without ruining it.

Know what? After looking at the photos, I've gotta go to the bodyshop tomorrow to see....hmmmmm

Whoa Nellie! Does that mean I get an extra discount on my next order
If they're backwards, Scott - you win a "theAutoist" cap! hehehe

Cool. Does it come in pink? Wife needs one
Give the man a 'theAutoist' cap! But they only come in green....

Went to the shop & restudied the fender louvers - I had put the pattern for the passenger fender on the driver fender....DUH!!

Here's an updated photo:

Tony, what's up with the roof line? Are those two raised areas functional or decorative?
Sorry, missed this post....right now, they're just decorative even though they're continued on the inside.

I don't know who made that top, I just like it! Heck, I bought an entire car just to get that top! Its so light that I can pick it up by myself & set it on the car.

....& I haven't a clue how they could be made functional!!

The lines of your hardtop remind me of a Viper hardtop...and even some early LeMans coupes......raised to provide headroom for the driver and passenger.

The side vents look a lot better re-orientated to match the wheel well.

Well, they are raised on the inside but are only about 8"-or so wide.

Hope you plan on lots of insilation in that cockpit. Man it could be a hot place in the summer.

We're planning on laying that silver stuff all over the floor, tranny tunnel & firewall - hope that'll be enough.

We've designed it ala Mike Cook's V8 car so that hot engine air is vented through the RV8 header holes, through the vents in the inner fenders & pulled out through the opening in the rear of that hood scoop everybody is talking about.

Just my $.02 Tony but I don't like the rear wing. Okay, now that that comment is out of the way, don't count on too much hot air coming up through the backside of that hoodscoop at speed. The base of the windscreen is a low pressure area and makes a great location to draw air into the engine bay. Which is why the muscle cars liked to use the "Cowl Induction" hood scoops which is essentially what you have. Its a speed thing though. Sitting still it would make a great vent.

True - & that's why the hood opening is placed where it is...its 6" forward of the rear edge of the hood which moves it away from the windscreen enough that air should be pulled out of it.

What about when you compare photos of with & without the 'rear wing'?

To my eye, the spoiler makes the car look longer and smoothes out the rear end.....but, that's just me right now...no telling what I'll think once the car is all white with primer!

Monday, we work on the fender side vents & final fitting of the front fenders - I'll take photos of the car with all 4 wheels on the ground then.

I noticed that the rear of the scoop was well forward of the windscreen after I submitted that post. You may be right that it is far enough forward.

It does make it look longer. All in white may offer a better overall way to look at the final layout.

Have you thought of something like the the Special Tuning Air Dam (Moss#475-195) or the BL "Limited Edition" Spoiler (Moss# 475-180) for the front end instead of that Chin Spoiler Mock up? Especially at the prices you can get those for?

I did (& I can get one cheaper than making a chin spoiler) but, again, everybody has them - nobody will have a Sebring valance with integrated chin spoiler!

I can easily accept that line of thinking. Which is why I won't put Panasports (or similar) on my TR6. They look great, but everybody has them. :smirk:

Also why I'm looking at my options for 16x8 wheels!

Actually I like it better without the rear wing.

Yeah, except the wing sorta balances out the hump on the hood. In profile, it doesn't look as lopsided with both, as with one.

Gonna be a nice ride.

Tony - didn't you have a T series that was getting painted white? whatever became of that?
Tim - the white was the 2-part epoxy primer...its now a beautiful Sequoia Cream...you can see photos of it on my website Museum page.

We'll all just have to wait it out as it goes through its gestation period!

I agree with you Jack, I kinda like it without the rear wing too.
