Small Victories.....for Mac

I'm stocked with windshield frames and stanchions if you need them. Of course, they are all in need of replating. But don't park your car outside...I'm in need of a lot of body parts, so it could go missing if you do!?!

So I Didn't fall off of the earth.....the basement is about 3 weeks from a finished product....Boring I know.....but that means the dust can settle and I can figure out Phase 2...THE GARAGE ADDITION.....More to follow.

I started with a 2800 sq/foot shop 8 years ago. After 9/11 and the industry fell apart, I had to sell that house and downsize. Everything I do is now in a 2 car garage, with 2 cars in it. I had those 2 cars at the old house, and they came with me. So, I guess I'm trying to say...houses come and go, but your Triumph will always go with you. More time on the car and less on the house!

Thanks for the pictures. I am missing one of the dash braces on my project TR3 and thought that they might be different ( a left and a right). But now I see on yours that both braces are the same. That will help in my search for one more.

Well.....One other house later. One new job out of town and home on the weekends.....suffice it to say I am as stalled as a project can be. it pains me to struggle through the garage and know the TR3 is buried in under all the stuff.....So that is life and where I am at. Project Update Complete!!! :rolleyes2:

Thanks for the update JP. Here's hoping that you can get back to it soon.

Cheers

You may have to move the car closer to the beach to work on it between calls!?! Some of my largest projects were done when the job sent me away for long times. Anyway, glad to hear you still check in on us. The great thing about car projects is they don't mind waiting till you have time to get around to them. Your son may even surprise you wanting to help as he gets closer to driving age.

I am making the twins give me a couple hours a weekend to assemble the engine...as a learning experience. I do all the mundane busy work and let them do the final assembly. Now that they are driving I am actually seeing some interest...

OK....life has a funny way of changing on you. Good news is next week I start my new position and it is within daily commuting distance from my home. I think I have figured out a way to create some storage in the current finished basement. Wife Approved of course.....So maybe i can get back on track soon.....and after the CTR BOG car show on the 26th.....I am sure I will be renewed......CHeers

Excellent news JP.

I should be going back to the 60 as soon as I get the engine and tranny back in the 59. I am hoping to get this done within the next two weeks and then I will put the body back on and put it at the side of the house for a little while until I can get back to it.

On the 60, I need to do the following;

1. Do some repainting. I am not happy with the colour match on body tub vs the panels on the car (in particular the doors). I had paint mixed twice and obviously the paint shop screwed something up in the formula. It is not really obvious, but it bugs me and I need to fix it properly. When someone asks me who painted it, I want to be able to say that I did it without making excuses  I want to paint the hard top I have for it at the same time to get that out of the way.
2. Exhaust
3. Finish the Interior Bits. I haven't put the tranny tunnel on until I can road test the Overdrive.
4. Alignment. I fitted the R&P conversion and right now it isn't even close....going to try the string method soon...
5. I have a rolling issue...something is binding and I need to find out what that is...
6. I will have to get a safety certificate for the car before I can get a licence plate for it...I need to get it re appraised for insurance purposes as well before I hit the road.
7. Oh, I need to run power/relays to my electric fan and driving lights.

So, because of the repaint, I will have to go backwards for a little bit before moving forwards again. I think Im going to take a weeks vacation to paint the car....just have to pick a good week weather wise.....

Yes, it snowed today and was bloody cold. I had to put the heat back on in the garage. Gives me an excuse to keep working on the 59 for a little while longer...got the steering back in tonight...driveshaft painted and new u joints...rad going back in on Saturday. May put the body back on this weekend and put it out beside the house.

Hey JP,

are you going to customize your new garage bay addition for resto projects?

Sounds like finally, the wheels are all turning in the right direction for you!
