Small Victories.....for Mac

I know I said the next post was going to be car related so here goes! I have a friend that thinks we can get car two up and running fairly easily, so that is the next move forward until the garage finishes relocating itself!
I did manage to get two four foot fluorescent light fixtures each carrying 4 T8 bulbs with outdoor rated ballasts. I have got light and lots of it! Next week I will be all alone while the family heads to visit a college the daughter may want to row for. I think that time will be dedicated to bench relocation and some general rearranging of car parts. Wish me luck

Just a thought: Would putting some locking casters on your bench be worthwhile, just to make the space a little more flexible depending on what you're doing?

I have set a goal to get my 60 on the road and drive it to a show on August 7th! You are inspiring me to get going on mine again.

Cheers

Not a bad thought! I will have time to look and rearrange while the house is quiet. Got one more storage location I have to clear
Thanks

The parts are finally coming back down to an area in the garage that I can get to. The garage is getting closer to how I want it to be. It is tight but I am finding things again. The list of parts is slowly taking shape and I have put a few things in the car for a trip to my friends blast cabinet. I do have a work thing taking me away soon but can see more getting accomplished when school starts up again. Busy dad thing.....

I wish I had a bench...looking good!

Repurposed bench adapted to the new area! Best part is remembering all the parts I had purchased a while ago and then finding a lot of parts that I had already refurbished for reinstall! I still have to get back down to the frame and finish that section of the tear down. I am feeling like this trip for extra space was worth the effort now and ready to check off a few more items on the list. I was thinking a dry erase board somewhere in the space may be useful as well. Thanks for the slow ride through the addition. Back to Triumph stuff! I may revamp the thread and start part two to keep me on track.

Yes, a dry erase board or a chalkboard is an excellent idea!

This TR2 resto has been going on so long that I no longer remember restoring MOST of the part assemblies. I know that I did, but it seems like another lifetime ago. So, I know what you mean when you discover a restored part...like Christmas!

Now if I could discover a restored body in the shed somewhere!?!

Ok so the parts are really all home including the bins in storage! I can finally say screw you public storage! It was a serious struggle to get in all in here but I am happy to say the purge has begun! I worked on tossing out trash all weekend. Cans are full and pickup can't happen soon enough. I found boot prop rods and other items I was not sure I even had. So I have a upcoming work thing that takes me away for eight days so until then it is purge purge purge and organize. Great to see all the updates by the rest of you guys, just motivates me even more to get going again.

Excellent!

Once I get the 60 finally sorted, I'm going back to work on the 59 before the snow starts to fly! I would love to have the 59 ready for paint by next Spring.

I'll be using you for motivation !

So not really triumph work but related. I added a garage bay to be able to get all the parts together and have more room to continue with the Tr3 restoration. I am suffering with tools that have accumulated from different sources and I am constantly looking for them. I saw these being tossed out and decided to snag them:

Not sure what I was going to do with them but the I had a moment. Drawer dividers, not only that but that makes a select group of tools removable at a time. So with a very sharp razor knife I started performing surgery on these and here are some before and after shots:

And one more to show the progression of how this should speed up work time by being able to find tools quicker:

That is my project in a nut shell

Now I can see them...Very cool! I despise taking the time to organize, as it feels like I should be spending that time on the project...yet I have never regretted the time lost to organizing after I've done it. As hard as it is to do, it really does save in the long run, when you don't have to stop in the middle of something to track down the one tool you can't find! Northern Hydraulic has a shelf system made for those trays. I bought it for the first TR3 restoration and they proved indispensable in keeping track of the million Triumph parts we end up with.

That said, your tools and shop are WAY too clean. It's time to put them to work!

Not sure if I mentioned but I am tagged in Feb for a GYHD get your hands dirty with our car club! It will be to try and spin over the blue Tr3 and see if we can get her running. That is part of the thought behind getting organized because I will have a bunch of gear heads here helping out. I have on my list to rebuild the SUs prior to that date so any helpful hints there would be great. It looks like I am missing a few bits as well.

I think you should take some video of the GYHD. I would love to see and hear it run.

Cheers
