Series 1 4.2 fan motor question

Howdy gang,

It's been a while! I hope everyone has been well. We recently picked up a 1965 Series 1 4.2 coupe -- pretty early in the 4.2 run. The prior owner converted to a modern fan, and I'm in the process of removing it and going back to the original set up for concours purposes. I'm a bit unclear on what the right fan for the car would be. I know that it should be square, rather than round, but might anyone have a photo? I greatly appreciate it!

Thanks so much and Happy Holidays!

B.

If I remember right, there was a real good reason they changed.
Keep the old ones handy. You may find you will need them sooner than later.

The motor will be like the wiper motor, without all that wiper hardware on the end - just a small shaft with a blade. They were terrible motors and replaced usually after a few years. I recently sold a few boxes of these Jag motor cores to a motor re-builder. They were mostly wipers, but the parts interchange, so he might make fan motors out of them. If you google "East Coast Jaguar", Wilmington, De., you can get contact info. The fan motors for series one and two look identical, but are different. One clockwise, the other counter-clockwise. Don't be surprised if the price seems high. The big buck Ferrari's of that time also used them.

Used square motors should be plentiful as so many have replaced them with the more powerful round motors. I'm saving mine in the steamer trunk with all the other original bits I've removed on the assumption that the 'next guy' will want them.

If originality is not being strictly adhered to and cooling is a concern, Mike Frank offers fans and aluminum radiators that are highly regarded (what I have now) -- Cool Cat
