So the reason for the sculpter being there in Winslow on that corner on that date was because it was the first day of the "25th Annual Standin' on the Corner Music Festival". And Ron Adamson was being honored. And that is also why I could not get a room in Winslow that night. Every room was taken so I had to drive to Flagstaff.

It's still too hot to comfortably drive Route 66 from Phoenix via Flagstaff to LA so I'm still cooling my jets in Portland. Hopefully, I'll be able to resume the adventure in a week or so. I'll keep you all posted.

It's hard to get a good view of the scenery when it's dark. Getting a good view is part of the Route 66 experience.

Came across this today; seems appropriate ('I knew Amboy before Amboy was cool').

A Route 66 town was dead. This man resurrected it into ‘a classic desert destination’
