Well as predicted I finally snapped the original axle. I will admit I was doing a few donuts at the time and may have pushed it a bit to far. Lucky I was only a few miles from home so I just hitched a ride home, picked up an extra axle and went back and had it changed out in 15 minutes. I'm hoping to have better luck with winner circle axles I have been waiting to install. I got 1200 miles out of that original axle so I'm kinda surprised it lasted that long.

DW-
Have you considered welding the axle back on to the flange? Shouldn't be too difficult to get the correct orientation.

At least you'd have another backup.

BTW, thanks for posting your project.

Actually I was wondering if anyone has tried reinforcing the weld on the flange for some added strength. There is a dimple right in the center of the flange that seems to be a weak spot and the crack looks like it started around there. I have some new Winner circle axles that should be stronger but the Hot Rodder in me wants to see if I could do something with the original. Thanks AB and it's a pleasure to share this build with the BCF community!

Well it's time to get ready paint and after much deliberation I'm think of going with a chrome finish like pictured below. Has anybody, or do you know anybody, who has attempted this? I'm going to start off with some test piece in the next few week and was looking for any do's and don'ts.

IS this using the process from Jay Leno's Page?

I'm trying out MirraChrome by Alsa Corporation. They says its produces a mirror chrome shine that can be done with a simple spray gun. No process required. I'm going to paint some old fender and see how it works. It can be tinted to give an anodized look as well.

Well...I would say your prep work would have to be beyond beyond perfect to get away with that. Even black is difficult to get right. Charlie

I agree prep work will be an issue, but seeing the square footage is minimal, and it's a Bugeye and not a Merc, I'm figuring a few buddies, beers, bondo, and boards and it might be doable. As for durability yeah I'm researching that with some tuner guys, they love this stuff! I'm still on the fence but will try some test pieces at the shop. I also hear a little goes a long ways so the price may be deceiving based on the coverage I get.

and that should stop the young ladies in their tracks.

LOL that and the buzzing of the rotary! Hmmmmmmm

Has anyone tried these Halogen replacement headlights from MOSS?

what happened to the halo headlights you were running? no good?

I picked up a stone and crack one and now I can find another one to match. Seems like they discontinued these, figures. Anyways I looking for alternatives and was wondering if the one from moss were any good. The H-4 I have are great but ones is now cracked!

Well it's time to get some wipers. Has anyone ever install something other than the original cable drive wiper system. I don't expect to use them, but with all the cruises going on, I'm sure my luck will run out and I will eventually get caught in the rain.
