Rotary Sprite

Oh great! What's the fix for that? I was hoping this would be easy.

They just swap over. There were two different steering racks used in these cars (changed sometime in 1972). Each requires a different size hole in the steering arm.

I can do that! Thanks Trevor

You going to find this is a no brainer. Just have at it.

That's what I was hoping and I'll have at it this weekend! Thanks.

I finally got the Front Disc set-up I needed and it was not easy to find one in rebuildible shape. I figured since I'm in this deep I should change the springs. Does any have any suggestion of what spring would be good for this Bugeye with the rotary installed. I see there are comp springs available and a few different type of stock springs? Any help is greatly appreciated. v/r Dave

Re: Rotary Sprite HELP

Well I just finished installing the A-arm and disc assemble and something looks funky. The disc/hub is at about a 5 to 10* angle. The old drum set-up was perfectly vertical. Also the disc hub flange face is now a inch or so out farther than the drum face. Does this sound OK, it would seem the the tire will now stick out a bit? Any HELP would be welcome. Thanks Dave.

Whew, I thought I hosed it up. I see it now Thank You.

Re: Rotary Sprite HELP

Well I finally got the springs and should be able to reassemble the front end. After that it's just brake lines, master cylinders.

Regards brakes: the Spridgets with front discs also had slightly different rear brakes (wheel cylinders for sure; backing plates as well I believe). There's been some discussions elsewhere here as to the parts required and the necessity of making the change as well as whether or not the master cylinder should be resleeved to the disc brake diameter when switching; I've got a complete disc braked 1275 parts car and a project bug-eye and I'll be swapping everything over plus getting the master cylinder resleeved for both the disc brakes as well as for a five speed conversion.

These are 1275 springs from Moss and they are taller but the coil diameter is smaller. Seem to have a more progressive spring rate the the short stockers. I used these to help with the added weight of the motor and tranny. The original springs were leaving rub marks in the fender well and that was before the motor swap! I hoping it don't pogo!!!!!!!!!!!

I called a few folks and they stated that a rear upgrade and re-sleeving is not mandatory. But, little extra pedal pressure and a fresh rebuilt master cylinder is highly recommended. I decided not to go through all the added structure mods need to add a dual masters at this time. If it becomes a problem, I'll add this to my future mod list, Thanks for the info Doug!

OK I'm getting ready to install new brake lines and fitting, but forgot how the original lines were run and would like to route them close to stock since there pre-made lines. I remember the 4 way block was on the right side, not sure where. Also I can the new hose to the calipers be mounted to the original drum hose bracket?

4 way block, right inner fenderwell.

The flex line mount I can't remember, been way way to long ago (25yrs), but I think so, because I don't remember having to do any mods there.
