Bill, have you had those air filters long? Reason I ask is: I've had those things disintegrate on me, pieces of foam ingested @ WOT... didn't like that one bit.

Nice to have a race forum now.

Previously autocrossed in a number of Triumphs (Spits and TR-6s) and Fiats (124s and X1/9s).

Got into IT racing with SCCA for a time with an RX7.

Currently vintage racing with HSR/SVRA in a 65 Sprite.

'67 MGB roadster in auto-x a couple years back... DSP in SCCA. Retired that one (rust) and looking to build the '72 MGB roadster into an SCCA production racer (someday).

`72 Triumph GT6Mk3 SCCA Solo II in the Eighties and Early Ninties. Nebraska and Red River Regions. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/driving.gif And again once I get the thing rebuilt. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Ran my first race last weekend at SVRA Sebring events in Elva Courier Mk I--engine unfortunately blew in Friday's sprint. I haven't yet figured out how to insert photos in the body of this message but see attachment picture.

I just copy the url between
on it's own line - no spaces. I usually attach, then edit the post to show the pic that way.

Hi Michael,
Kenny’s got it right. If you upload the picture here (this website), you have to do the 2 steps. When the attachment is uploaded, a unique 6 digit number with a dash is inserted in front of the photo name (That keeps a new file named “engine” from overwriting an old file of the same name). Once uploaded, you need to open the attachment and copy the full URL found in the address box. Then, edit your post, click the “image” button (under “Instant UBB Code”) and paste. That will fill in the [image] / [/image] for you.

I must be dense or something. The URL is: [image]https://www.britishcarforum.com/ubbthreads/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2202[/image]

but I don't think that what I have done is going to open the picuture and put it in the body of this message. In any case you can view it in "Recent Photos"--see that my engine now looks like one of those cutaway drawings. The crank is sheared and the #1 Carillo rod is bent--notice also the unsupported journals as the crank is a five-main in a three-main engine.

There are two schools of thought on this--one that it is a stronger setup and; two, that it is weaker. I am siding with the latter folks.....

See also the intermediate bearing parts found in the sump in the attached photo.

Guess you're gonna need new thrust bearings too, then.

<snork>

<sniffle>

I really DO dislike seeing that.

TVR Grantura Mk 3 - 1800 with HRG crossflow and Webers (since sold to Holland)

MGA Twincam (ahem) over bored, with Webers, 12:1 etc.

Have Solo II'ed my TR6 and Cortina. Have also done many open track events with the TR6. TR8 hasn't been on the track yet. Needs suspension work and proper tires first.

Somehow, I missed Doug's original comments on Fiestas.

I helped build and drive one many years ago with my friend Bob. It was a great little race car.

Actually, the Fiesta ended up being two different cars. The first was "shunted" by a poorly driven RX-7 and the entire thing was caught with an onboard video. We were one of the first cars to have an onboard camera in the NNJR-SCCA. In the video, you see the crash....then you hear all this swearing from Bob. They played that tape at the Xmas party for years afterward! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Here's a picture of the Fiesta at Pocono. It was orignally an ITC car and later a GT-5 car (two big Webers and a crazy cam,etc.)

By the way, the #11 red Mitsubishi Colt next to it was owned by Joe DeLuca, who died on Flight 93. At the time, I owned a race-Colt that was a twin to Joe's car. There is a flagpole at Lime Rock dedicated to Joe (and his girlfriend).

Part of the reason I choose #11 for my car was because of Joe. He also owned a Morgan.

1967 Sunbeam Tiger GT2. Does it count if I don't remember when the last time racing was? Hope to get it back on track at Sandia Motor Speedway, Albuquerque, NM yet this year. Will miss the first April event. Maybe May!

Very little substitute for cubic inches. Maybe a huffer. Certainly cubic dollars (you may donate those).

'77 MGB, yes rubber bumpers. But have a Sebring kit to lighten her up.
autox in ES for a year, then Street prepared until 1996 when the rings turned to little tiny pieces. Now since 2003 E prepared. But soon to be G prepared.
Change of rules.
