I'm deciding if I should bring my Caterham 7 1600GT (Crossflow) up to the Salt Lake area. It has been stored for 10 years and needs a good British Ford mechanic's love. Any in the area I can rely on?
 
Can't say I know anyone in your area but get it running. Most fun car I have ever driven.

I gave myself laugh lines from smiling the 50k miles I drove Cate before I went overseas. I am Jones'n for my 7 fix now that I'm back.
 
Probably a good idea to do most of the work yourself. What with the electrical, brakes and tuning, there are a few hours ( like maybe 20 ) of work there, and at current rates you could spend a fortune.

Better you should pull the brakes apart yourself, as well as change the points, plugs, oil and the like, and clean all the electrical connections. Maybe throw in some new tires while you are at it. Then if it runs poorly, flip it up to your guru. Overall the less he has to do, the more that you will save!

I'm in Salt Lake City and have not yet come across someone that's expert in that area. I have an Elan +2 which isn't quite the same of course, but same theory applies.

I work on mine myself and enjoy (nearly) every minute!
 
I can't think of an easier motor to work on than a crossflow, except for the part about the carbs blocking easy access to the distributor.

Salt Lake is a big city. I'm sure there are a number of competent mechanics there. Sevens are super easy to work on.
