Ok one, If you going to shoot me down and call me name, then kick me out again.

I don’t appreciate being called named and all your negative comments.
If you have some of your class mates put cuts in your gas lines take apart you dang carb, in school time, I think you would see this differently. With no one seeing or hearing them at all.

You don know how much I know about eclectic wiring, I did my self and it works.

You guys must not be from small towns, yes some one will here it, and at least the people in my town are still the kind of people who help out other people and care about them, unlike the majority of the city people.

I did not ask any one how to set it up, so don’t tell me I cant do it.

I just thought I would tell, that some one might actually care about some thing I was doing. I guess not, every time on this forums and other I get the same stuff from the same people.
I love being on forums I consider you guys as family and some of you as Figures in my life. But there’s time where you don’t make it easy for me and I just want to cut off all connect to you and the forums, and if that’s what your trying to achieve then just ell me to leave please.
I have feelings to, and when some calls me names that I respect it to put I blankly shoots me down.

Well when my keyboard gets here, if im still welcome here, I’ll give you a full update.

Until then,
Ciao

Keenan Bash

Keenan, no one here is calling you names or putting you down; we're just trying to help you out. I live in a small town myself, as do many of the members of this board; I can say from experience that car alarms don't catch anyone's attention. A girlfriend I had in college had her car broken into and the radio stolen, alarm going ballistic in the middle of a crowded parking lot. Nobody saw or said a thing.

I don't blame you one iota for being ticked off for someone vandalizing your car. Anyone here would be beside themselves if we were in your shoes. It's just something that happens, for lack of a better term. Odds are, some fool was stuck with a jalopy and was jealous of you having a nicer car. I had that situation with my truck; my truck ended up keyed all over the hood and down the side.

With that said, I'm glad that you got the alarm to work; if you're happy with it, that's what matters. You might also consider the suggestions I made in a previous post; implementing those things wouldn't cost more than $25 and a couple hours time.

I would love to see "Sun Kiss" back on the streets again, as would Tony, Janel and all the others on this board and the other board. Where does the project stand right now? Do you have the engine/trans back in the car? Give us a little update on it.

I'm sure I can speak for everyone here when I say that there was no malicious intent in the comments given here.

I read through this thread and I have no idea what you are talking about with name calling. Did I miss something?

Can I make one suggestion again in a very friendly way? Please read over your posts and at least correct some English. They are not easy to translate.

As an example:

"I have feelings to, and when some calls me names that I respect it to put I blankly shoots me down."

This does not make a lot of sense.

Did you mean - I also have feelings and when someone I respect calls me names, to put it bluntly, it shoots me down.

I am just trying to help. Seriously.

Ok, we feel your pain and would like to help but are far far away for the most part so we can only tell you what we think or feel.

Do not take folks concerns for bashing. It isn't that way at all. We want you to susceed and get the little car on the road again. After all walking is not cool.

Keenan - I've said it before (to you on the phone & in private emails) & I'll say it again - focus on getting the car running & we'll all be better equipped mentally to help you....you may be able to bounce helter skelter from one thing to another but I can't - I have to think a project through & complete each piece before moving to the next thing....yes, I can keep several cars going at once - but I can only work on one thing on each car at a time

...we all want you to succeed...we've all been down your road....we just hate to see you make the same mistakes we made....if you keep your focus, you'll succeed - if not, well....

....oh, the way to handle punks in high school is to ignore them...the more you recognize what they're doing & make a big stink about it, the more they'll do it.

Now, come back when the car is running & tell us about that!

...as an aside, if that's happening, maybe you need to listen to what we're saying - no, maybe you need to hear what we're saying.....there is a difference.

Is there anyway you could park the car a little bit away from the school parking lot?If it's not convienent, they might just leave it alone.
The other possibility is to drive one of your parent's car.
That's why I don't drive my TR6,or Cortinas to work.
I'm tired of door dings, etc. So I drive my pickup instead.
Not putting you down - just trying to help (like every-
-one else here).

I didn't see anywhere on this thread where anybody was calling Keenan any names.

Keenan, obviously most folks on here don't hold much faith in car alarms. It's the same way on the other forum too. You've heard the reasons why and they are all valid. Do what you want, but we really couldn't give a rip about a car alarm. What we would all like to see is some REAL progress on your car. All the gadgets and electronic gismos in the universe are of no use on a car that is sitting in a garage partially disassembled. Tackle the real problems first, or you won't have to worry about car alarms or whether your car gets vandalized at school because it will still be right where it is now...in the garage in pieces. It was the same thing with the spoiler you were asking about a few weeks back. We all suggested not to mess with it until after you got your car running. A member here was nice enough to give you one, but if he really wanted to help you out, he'd have done the same as the rest of us and told you to concentrate on the task at hand...getting the car back on the road. Spring is just around the corner. Wouldn't it be nice to drive that car again in another month or two? Is installing a car alarm getting you any closer to making that a reality? Are you getting my point here? FOCUS ON THE TASK AT HAND. EVERYTHING ELSE IS A DISTRACTION.

By the way, I like the comment you made about "eclectic wiring." You made a funny and I bet you didn't even know it! Eclectic it is!

Good one, Dave - I've run across my share of 'eclectic wiring' in cars I've bought

....'eclectic wiring'...hehehehehe

My car didn't run either when I got it 2 years ago. I've put about $1000 in parts and lots of time getting running and keeping it running for 2 years.

The first "looking good" item I ever bought for it was last week! New trim rings and lugnuts for the wheels. And even that was along with $100 of other stuff I needed to fix the brakes again.

Get that car on the road, and you can worry about the looks and styling items later - it'll come together.

Keenan,

I agree, and there certainly is nothing wrong with wanting to protect your car. You're spending alot of money to get her up and running,..and I think some of us need to remember how much more difficult it is to come up with that money while going to school full time.

I wanted some protection for mine, so I had a Lojack put in.

Anyway,..if it makes you feel better,..than it's worth the money.

It is unfortunate that so many of your threads end up with alot of posts that seem to be a bit mean spirited. You mentioned installing an alarm, and ended up with, yet another, lecture on priorities.

All you did in this post was mention getting an alarm, because you feared additional damage to your investment. I don't see that as losing focus, and,..I'd be willing to bet that you are going nuts looking for things you can do while you wait for your engine guy to come back. It's frustrating,..but hopefully that part will be done soon.

After speaking with you,..you seem pretty focused, and pretty dependant on Ryan to get the job finished. I'd bet that you have her running for prom. 2 months,..it can be done /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Cheers,
Jerry /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thank you Jerry your one of the few people who actually understands.
I do know what do on this point. I don’t need any thing else to get my car running. And there’s nothing I can really do.
I don’t like being lost and not know what to do; I have to do some thing, with out messing up the car.

Yes I am dependent on Ryan; he has a lot of knowledge about mg's and he’s a good teacher. I thoroughly enjoy when he comes to help me because for the first time I'm learning how to do thing the right way and I have some one helping me.

You are right in saying, I hate when I get lectured over and over and over again. I am focused, and I am willing to do things.
I know there doing it because there just trying to help, but lecturing me on every posted is not what I’m looking for. When I post a topic I want it to be answered not turn off in to a lectors, I want it to be a learning experience.

I apologize for saying that some one called me names I took a couple things different then they were attended it’s just the constant tell me to stay on track when I am not what I need.

If all goes planned Ryan will be at my house this Saturday and the car will run again. Going to have to have the heater running through.

ohhh, Sat is going to be a fun day for sure. Can't wait to read about it.

Me too, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I hope he still wants to come, even with the chance of the cold.

Aren't lectures learning experiences?

They can be, but I've found the socratic method of asking the right questions, raising the right issues and making the student come to his or her own conclusions internalizes the information better.

As a former college professor & high school teacher, I can attest to lectures as a learning experience...they're low on the totem pole, but they work...the Socratic method is great if the student hears and uses his cognitive thinking skills to develop his response...if he doesn't have those skills or doesn't use them, then sometimes you have to awaken those cognitive skills...hands on is another way to stimulate the brain endorphines...actually, there are about 6 ways a person learns...I've tried most of them on Keenan...but, long distance learning just isn't working (& its probably one of the hardest ways to learn)....so, keeping things down to an email size or thread answer size lesson sometimes comes across as a lecture...

(sorta like this post)

Teach me tonite. oh wait, thats something else.

Go wash yer fingers out with soap, Jack.
