TR2/3/3A post 6k tr3 trunk brace

Hi all here is my latest challenge with my post 6k tr3. I was putting the trunk lid on and had a lot of difficulty with the inner brace that removes. Perhaps the body shop should have done the bodywork with the brace on the truck because after I wrestled the brace on the trunk sits up in the back. I bought the car as a basket case and figured the brace would just pop right on and act as a support, but that was not the case. I had to push and pull with a helper and felt lucky to get the thing on without damaging the something. Any comments on others experiences is greatly appreciated.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with body work on the TR3 yet. It does sound like something is warped (either trunk lid or brace if that's possible).

Hopefully someone else here has some experience and advice.

I just picked up a late trunk lidand bonnet yesterdy for my post 6k body,as my project came with early ,flat hinge trunk and hood.
This trunk lid has tubular supports,with the hinge side held in by the hinge bolts.Mine doesnt have the hinge in place,and the holes line up with no coaxing.
Hood panel is cherry.

Steve, here are some pics of the interior of my boot lid. My car is a post 60000 3A. The only thing that we took off prior to going toit the body shop was the boot lid stay rod bracket at the hinge area.

Thanks Dick for the picks they help me see that I bolted it up right despite the way mine pushes the lid up in the back. On yours are they bolts in the back or some other type of hardware, like pin or?

They are bolts. I just didn't take it apart when it all went to the body shop. I have some other issues but but not on the boot lid.

Tinkerman,It appears you are missing the rubber cushions that go between the support rods and panel.Mine has four ,about 3 inches long,in the center of each brace tube.
was wondering if these are available if I remove to paint.
Funny my early lid looks much better built with steel channel braces,independent of hinge mount.

I thought that they were only on the Bonnet. I have them for it. I can order some more, I think TRF has them on sale. Have to check...........

You were right Tom, they are needed for both the boot and bonnet lids. TRF does have them on sale.

Dick,not sure where these rubber pads would go on the bonnet as there are no cross tubes on mine.

Hi Dick and Tom you have both been helpful, Dick for the pics and Tom for information about the rubber piece. However, I cannot find it in the TRF catalog. My mind cannot work with too much of that clicking around to find stuff. I guess that is why I use Moss so much. Having said that I often do like the stuff I get from TRF better. Incidentally, after looking at your pics Dick, I figured out what I did wrong with the brace. I bolted it on the inside of the rear supports and not the outside. I mean it took me and the pope to get that thing in there and know I have to try and get it out. I need higher help again.

I have a set of the rubber crosstube braces if you need them. Brand new from TRF.........I didn't need them. PM me and I'll be happy to send them to you.
