I promised someone (rob I think) a few days ago a picture of the carboard piece behind my radiator. I can't remember what thread it was in, but here's the pic...

ah, yes, it was me. Nope '76 doesn't have one of those things... Nor do I have that much room between my radiator and engine...

'77 started the forward radiator, except in the cases of the factory V8's.

Mine must be one of the first 77's too as it was built in December of 76.

Don't know why they don't hold up - my '79 with a little over 100,000 still has its original one...nothing's wrong with it except where I bunged up a corner once....& they're not expensive to replace once every 30 or so years!

If you can get me exact diminsions, trace it out on paper or something, mark where the bolt holes go, Chuck MAY be able to get over to the machine shop where he used to work and scrounge up some aluminum and whip one out for you. No promises, but he might be able to.

if you drive the car in wet conditions this board absorbs the water and distorts then looks crappy I have replaced 3 in the last 5 years

Guess you don't know what your missing until someone tells you. The 79 did not have one when I bought it. Having checked the parts book, I see that the car should have one. Comment about making from ally made me think I have a chunk of thin guage checker plate in one of the sheds, so after about 3 hrs, here it is. I have a gut feeling that it may make things under the hood even hotter than they already run. But like a lemon I will have to suck it to see. Maybe tomorrow it will be dry enough to give the girl a 20ml run. Cheers Ric

I like mine... It makes a nice shelf for tools when working on the car. That cherboard one looks good!
