Photobucket Workaround

TOC - Ok, I think I see the problem (and it is likely a problem with how Flickr works). In the image you posted above with the error message I see you DID NOT uncheck the box that says to retrieve the file and reference locally. In other words, my server will try to download the file from flicker and host it on MY server. That defeats the purpose of hot linking. Try again but UNCHECK that box so you are doing a pure hot link to the Flickr site and not retrieving the picture for storage on my server. Also, on your question about storage space. If you are a non-supporting member (non subscriber) you have 20MB of storage. Now, I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but keep in mind, when you upload a picture from your computer (3MB max which is a server limitation not a forum limitation) the forum software will re-size the image for suitable posting as about a 600 x 600 pixel max image. In doing so, a 2 or 3 MB image will get stored as a down-sized image usually 100KB or less. So, to put it in perspective , I have been uploading images for 17 years. I currently am using 50MB of storage to store about 900 images. In short, because th images get re-sized for proper display in a forum post, it will take YEARS to use up 20MB unless you are uploading large numbers of files every day. In that case, (if it ever happens) you can simply delete older pics (from your Settings menu above) or you can upgrade to a supporting subscriber. A silver level, for example, gives 60MB of storage. In my case, I in 17 years I still have not hit that mark yet.

Here's the video I just made, but I'm pretty sure the issue is not unchecking that box and Flicker not wanting to allow you to download the image that way.

test post for BCF blog photo url.

attachment.php

Looks like it worked. I right clicked the photo in my Blog post, copied the "location", then pasted the location into the Post Image box in this post.

Well, almost worked. You can post the url of a photo you've got here on BCF, but that url may not post on other website pages. I just tried the url of the photo above, which is in my BCF blog, and entered it into the Image/URL box of my Wordpress blog. Wordpress says "File type is not supported". Probably because the BCF url doesn't end in jpg or another image extension - just lots of numbers.

oh well.

Okay, maybe...none of the other forums I post photos on HAS that box, so here we go:

Okay, unchecked the box and it worked even better than the bracketed img trick.

 :iagree:

google "photobucket blocked 2017"
This is HUGE. Google, Amazon, every website and blog in the country.
Some folks have been blocked from access to retrieve photos...calling it "ransomware".

If you want to see those blocked Photobucket images on this and other sites and you use the Chrome browser, there is an extension you can add that makes it possible: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...flicjjgj?hl=en Don't know how long it will last as I'm sure PB is working hard to find a way to defeat it. I installed it, works perfectly
