I have been waiting a long time to be able to post to this thread.

The budget paint job is far from finished, but I am taking a break from wet sanding etc, so I can actually get driving. We were out yesterday and a Honda S2000 driver pumping gas pointed us out very excitably to his girlfriend/wife. We were also followed for a few miles by a 50's Rolls Royce.

Narrow road, going too fast, dirty windshield = not a great picture, but I don't care as the driving experience was "priceless".

is that some blue sky between the clouds??!!! Photos look impressive. Everything is brown here after a long hot and dry summer.
Have you taken your steeds over to Europe for a driving holiday? I would have loved to do that when I was living in London many years ago, but I didn't have access to a remotely classic car.

It was a beautiful cloudless day until I took the TR out, then a big black cloud came over!
I never have managed to take the car to Europe. My father lived in France for years, but depite driving over to see him each year the Triumphs were never on the road at the right time. I did make it as far as Portsmouth one year, which was almost Europe!
I take the TR to Ireland each year too.

Excellent, Dale. It is great to know that things are going well. However, I can't help noticing that your Triumph badge is upside down. No wonder the car keeps breaking down. It's bad karma!
 
Nick: That's because it is a fake horn button
installed by DPO Pedro- literally with chewing
gum holding it in place. It is a plastic insert only.

I have a real horn button and all the steering column
pieces to make the horns functional. I've even run new
horn wires in the column.

I have had no luck figuring out how all the horn button
pieces go together inside the steering column.

Functional horns are Way far down my list of priorities.

Spray bomb!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have you know that is a high tech, foam roller budget paint job. Seriously, thanks for the encouragement. At the VTR car show last Friday, it surprised a few of the driver-car owners as to what can be achieved by a complete amateur using a decades old method, and there are still some panels that I haven't even wet-sanded yet.

I look forward to finishing it one day, but I am having too much fun driving it at the moment. If I don't sell the "new" short bubble hood (any takers?), I may paint that and fit it. I may have found a way to get a "1-foot finish" with this method.

Hit Send too quick. Congrats Dale and grease those wheel bearings before going out in it again.
