Opinions on this car

P.S. If you inquire and are interested I could ask Mickey Pleasant who lives in Vista a stones throw from Oceanside to maybe take a look at it. He may already know about it. He was very familiar with the RhD Bugeye that Droortz bought in that area.

Pass on the blue one, I just got rid of 2 beaters, not going thru that again. The white one, very nice car. But if its listed on Hemmings with an "inquire" about pricing, you know its $$$$$$. The yellow one in Pleasanton is growing on me, just need to paint the white stripe black, put a 1275 in it, disc brakes, and finish all the bits that are not quite done.

Hey it can't hurt to ask. Besides the 1275 and the supercharger it has a 5 speed. All the things that you want to change on the Pleaannton car are already there. if i didn't already have the car of my dreams I would be inquiring.

This is true. I sent them an "inquiry" email to see what they say. I'm guessing 28k.

Likely close to that. It's got a few flaws I spotted and needs to get a few leafs taken out of the rear springs. Autometer gauges? look nice, wrong Sprite emblem, at least use the one with the supercharged badge. Other than that fabulous.

I think I've finally decided to pull the plug on my '65 sprite project with a 12a rotary

too many projects and I dont want this one to sit any longer.
asking $8,500 I have more than twice that invested

Ill eventually get a classified post put together..

OK you've now got new options for a Rotary Powered BE. Branson IIRC this BE is mobile at this stage?

no not mobile....wiring harness needs to be installed, fuel line from the fuel cell to the carb needs to be run. a lot of the accessories on the engine block are just hand tightened to check fitment so that all needs to be gone through. but the major bits are all there and installed....just needs to be finished off.

I just bought a house out of sheriffs sale that Im rehabbing so its going to be like 2 years before I have the time and $ to spend on it and I just dont want it to sit that long. I already have an Audi TT convertible that its sharing the garage with so I really don't need 2 roadsters.

as far as I know its street legal without the bumpers, people do it to street rods, muscle cars and the like around here all of the time. We dont have vehicle inspections here in Oklahoma so its not an issue. It has a clear title and has been tagged. Its really no different than installing roll pans on pick up trucks and removing the bumpers. Thats street legal in all states.

if anyone is interested and wants to contact me my email address is jnbyoung at cox.net

I just called them too and I admit, I laughed in the phone when she told me. Nice car, but that is absurd.

CA requires bumpers on passenger cars....pickups do not need them....I got a fix-a-ticket in CA for my first BE for no bumpers....I added BE bumpers in the back and VW nerf bars in the front.
Scott in CA

If you look at Hemmings there is an old English White 1275 supercharged 1961 BE for sale in Oceanside CA. with an Inquire about the price sign. looks like a nice one.

What's up with the red and green lights on either side of the blinker switch? I saw another Bugeye last week with the same lights. 30+ year owner said they were that way when he got it (he was the 2nd owner)

Cool, that car has the same gauges as my bugeye. I'd guess the light were added since the gauge doesn't have any indicator lights.

High beam and charge light probably.
