Need Thoughts

I have heard that if you want to store an engine for a long period of time is to fill it up till oil is comming out the top of the engine, and squirt oil in the cylinders, now if you plan to start it best put in oil and use a drill and spin the oil pump to get oil circulating everywhere or you would definately hava a dry start and chance spinning bearing

You're mostly correct. I don't think filling it up till oil is coming out the top is recommended. You should remove the plugs, squirt some oil into each cyl, turn the crank by hand to make sure the oil coats the cylinder walls, then put the plugs back in.

And you prime the engine before you start it as you've described.
 
My engine builder told me to keep it dry.
It's got moly everywhere inside.
The priming is a no brainer

By the way gentlemen, to go full circle here, I decided to get it running first and I am back working on it. My Wedge is really ticked off at me for abandoning it.

I have a wedge and I can tell you that they may get jelous about the atention and work being done on a TR6, but they dont get angry... or at least mine does not ! It still happily purrs when I turn the key every time, even when it's been a few weeks of hard work on the TR6 resto between drives =)

Loving cars is hard for that reason. :p You only want to sell it when it's not working because of the frustration, but you can't get anything for it, because it's not running. Then once you get it running, you don't want to sell anymore!

I'm just pitching a thought out here and not to make you second guess yourself - you mentioned you can't drive it because it's not as comfortable. Why not swap the seats, since it's not concours already? Should be able to get a nice set of Miata seats from a junkyard for $100-150 for the pair, and they have about 40 more years of comfort in them.
 
Bought mine for the Wedge for $125 in cloth and a lot better shape than that

No, I was hoping someone else had blazed the trail.

Do you have easy access to them? If so, could you take some measurements, especially the width of the bottom?

BTW, speaking of storing for a long time; you should also cap the tailpipes to keep rodents out. The story goes that someone had a Jag that they couldn't get running right. They tried everything without success. Finally they gave up and sold the car "as is" at lower than it's true value. The buyer discovered that there was a mouse nest in the exhaust system. He cleared it out and the car ran great.

I have two small plastic jars duct taped together that fit the OEM tailpipes perfectly.
