Well, yesterday I bought some extensions at sears (biglots didn't have any), a 20" craftsman, and a set of 3 (of their cheaper brand) wobblies. Today, I mustered up enough will to go out remove the bolts for the downpipe. Got the first one loose good... Got the second one loose good (and hit myself hard in the chest with the 2 ft long breaker bar), then stripped the third one all the way - came off tho - just no threads left on the nut... I bet the stud didn't fair any much better. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif I still can't get the head off...
I really only wanted to do this one side as the other side looks to be a worse PITA than this one, but Banjo said they come off easier puling them both so <sigh> I guess I'll have to start taking that other side apart. I'm losing the will to want to work on this thing fast. The only thing keeping me going is the fact that I've got another year to pay it off at $200 a month, and the insurance on it is about $75-80 a month. And we need to have something big enough to haul the family on vacation in June.
Here's the engine right now...
