Ahh the single life....
So according to one lady I met - I'm “materialistic and arrogant”.
Now I honestly have no idea what brought this on, but this one gal got some cocklebur under saddle about me over the weekend. Hey I’ll admit that we never exactly hit it off the first few times we've met and in fact I wrote her off a long time ago as not being anything more than a casual acquaintance. But it seems she felt differently at one point and told her friends that she really took offence at me not being interested in her and totally unloaded on me big time Saturday night.
Bout about halfway into the evening a group of us where standing around a table in a local gathering hole. The guys where swapping lies and the gals where talking about whatever gals talk about.
Anyway a couple of the guys & I where talking about typical guy stuff like cars & tools etc. When this girl interrupted & asked me if I thought I was “a materialistic person (with the cars, toys, etc.)?” Just as I was about to ask why, she said - that she thought playing with sports cars and big boy toys where a waist of money and immature. Well I finally managed to say that "it’s just a hobby that I happen to like and that I’ve met plenty of women that didn’t have a problem (don’t care really) with guys liking cars. Moreover I knew more than a few who enjoy them just as much as the guys do – so what’s your point?”.
By this time nobody else is talking but the two of us. Heck even the girls had stopped talking and where listening to our conversation too. Then she snapped & told me that I was conceited & fastidious (I actually had to look that one up) and then she stormed off, leaving all us guys standing there with our mouths open. What the..?!?!
Next day another girl that was at the table told me that she was upset because of the way I dumped her. I swear I never even took her out – don’t ya have to at least date someone once to be able to actually dump them? She told me she didn’t know, but for some reason the girl thinks you where a “jerk” (not the true vernacular used) to her and how I might as well check her off my list. Shaking my head - "But that's the point - she never was on my list".
So while I’m not upset or anything (think it’s kind'a funny actually), I think that there are some females of the species out there that are re-writing the rules of engagement as they go. Oh well, yet another lesson learned.
But what’s really bothering me is that who uses "fastidious" in a conversation anymore. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif
